I and some other Plebes were wondering just what might happen if Army beats Navy this year.

There was a rumor that TEE's would be canceled or optional, but that rumor has been put to rest.

There are other rumors also: that Cows will get their second semester privileges early, that Plebes will get recognized early, that the Corps gets PMI for the rest of the semester, etc.

So I figured I'd ask old grads, or others who may know, what exactly are the possible incentives/benefits for the Corps if Army beats Navy? What has happened in the past?

The last time it happened, in 2001, nothing happened.

How was that rumor put to rest exactly? I still hear it all the time since TEE are a relatively new thing and some classes don't even have them.

As far as the other ones you mentioned, not gonna happen. If they reward the Corps, it will be something that benefits everyone, not recognizing Plebes early. I am sure we will receive something if we win, but it won't be as massive as people make it out to be.

Excuse me? Relatively new? TEEs were not "relatively new" ten years ago when I took them. There is absolutely nothing new about TEEs.

Relative being the key word since I didn't know their exact age. Either way, my point was that getting rid of TEEs (obviously with some restrictions such as only one TEE is optional if you are proficient class) was plausible, although unlikely. We can dream, can't we?

This was the same thing we hoped we would get when the Dean left last year...:frown:

Relative being the key word. 10 years is a lot to some people, not to others.

You're equivocating.

TEEs have been around for quite some time, and to suggest that they are somehow new is incorrect.

In geological terms, West Point is also relatively new. Let's be realistic.

My dad had TEEs back in his day thirty years ago, just to put the question of their age to rest.

I didn't hear it from an official source and since both you and AKH can confirm their old age, I must have heard wrong.

Good thing I poste the link. I didn't even notice. Come to think of it, in 2008 Army marched on second so I guess they will march on second this year too.

Livinlarger - what's to debate? Have you ever seen the march on?

Not in many, many years. But I remember this coming up last year and there were some very humurous posts about it.

Last year, Army marched on first, so I am going to take a stab at it and say that Army will march on last this year. Also makes sense that they march on last because Army is the Home team this year.

I went in 2006 and 2008. In 2008 we were watching the march on with a bunch of parents up in the end zone. Great seats btw.
Anyway - Navy marches on first. The parents all ohhhh and ahhh. They were spiffy in their Navy coats and white hats. I told the dad I was sitting next to - just wait until Army marches on. They actually march. He was like - yeah, okay.
Now the stands are not very full for the march on. Mostly parents since it happens so early and probably mostly folks seeing it for the first time.
After Navy ran off the field; Army came out. There was a very audible gasp from the crowd in the stadium.

To be fair - Army does some things that Navy does not. All the companies are organized by height and everyone - even the women wear the same uniforms and covers. Navy's company formations are not as crisp and the women wear different covers which sort of mess things up visually. They also don't practice those corners as often!

For those of you planning on attending - it is going to be COLD. I cannot stress how important it is to dress properly if you are planning to watch the march on and stay through the entire game. Bring blankets, wear wool socks and boots. Bring handwarmers and footwarmers. Forget fashion.

Nothing to worry about. LOL.

Perhaps it depends on what your aliances are. I was also there in 2008 for both march ons and they both looked very professional. Navy marched off the field, not sure who saw them 'running'.

March what's that

I never needed to know how to march that much. 31-17 tha's all the marchin' I need to know. No brag just fact!

It was a much, much better showing by Army this year though. Those seniors should be proud at the turn around that they've created for the program. It was one play that swung the game this year. What I'd like to see next year though is fewer fumbles on both sides <_<
