Alrighty...as the smoke clears from the first board...wanted to remind all of you that aren't board ready for the Army ROTC scholarship that you have until 27 December to complete your file (interview, PFT, transcripts, test scores) to get before the second board. If you factor in holidays, you have few opportunities left to schedule an interview.

It's been an interesting year so far. the Board has kept me immensely entertained. Congratulations to those of you who were successful on the first board, and good luck to the rest of you!

I have always enjoyed your take on this site and its participants.

As to your take from the first CC board, how do the first round of scholarship awardees look as compared to the last years? Are you seeing more of the applicants you preferred or is CC sending you some interesting surprises (candidates more heavily scored in one area than in past years)?

I understand you are limited in what you can discuss, but given the candor which you have used both here and on your own site (always enjoy going there for updates, keep on posting the link!), I think many of us (even us whose kids are already through the application year) value your perspective on how you see the whole AROTC process evolving and what that means for the types of individuals you see as junior officers down the line.

Passed over for first board, requirements of next?

If you have not heard anything other than you did not receive a scholarship to the school you made contact with, and no letter comes with an offer to another school(s) -
1. Is the lack of communication acknowledgement you will be moved to the second board?
2. Are you able to update your online application? With what information? SAT scores? Activities? School choices?
3. Our Cadet Command contact is gone on TDY until mid December - do we call CC to request another individual to send materials to? Send any way to the original contact?
Thanks -

Goaliedad...thanks for the kind words. I'm pleasantly surprised with the number and quality of applicants this year. This is the most board ready I've had this early in a long while. since I only see my applicants, I can't tell how the overall process works. I'll try to do some more analysis next week, once all the cadets are gone on Thanksgiving leave.

Agp312...Letters should be out on Monday, so add about 1 1/2 weeks and you will know for sure. I would also check in with one of your ROOs to see if they can tell you where you stand. If you don't get an offer you will roll to the next board. If you have updates to your file I would suggest you send email them in to Train2Lead@usacc.army.mil , then follow up with a phone call. Be persistent. Someone should be picking up the slack for whoever is TDY. You can also should be able to work your additional input through your ROO.

Good luck.
