DoDMerb: how long does it take to take care of this

Was anyone who got the scholarship this round (Army) able to open the DoDMerb account? It still says "account matching your xxxxx does not exist, etc".

Can anyone tell me how long does it take to get the DoDMerb taken care of?

Do people get disqualified in this process often? S2 is very healthy, nothing wrong. No illness to speak of so far. No surgery. No accident. Other than the fact that his brain seems to be full of stones (stubborn) at times :shake: he seems to be sane so far

Is it realistic to have this done with by mid Dec? It would be SO great if he gets accepted into this school through ED, notifies the CC with his scholarship selection, and gets done with the DoDMerb all before the end of the year !

I had my dodmerb letter for USMA in June, exam in early July. I wasn't cleared until 20 Aug. But my paperwork had some foul ups too... I don't think there is a standard 'will be done time' for it.

Good luck!

The chances of you having a qualified letter in your hand by mid December is probably slim to none.

Even though you may be able to access the account on line, you will have to wait to get the letter from Dodmerb in the mail. The letter will give you the account information with Concorde and your doctor information.
You will be given an eye doctor and a doctor for the physical/hearing test.

We only had one choice for each in Southwest Florida and they were both about 45 minutes away. The doctor only did the Dodmerb exams on certain days and as those take quite a bit of time, they would only do them until 4 in the afternoon. They didn't like to do the eye exam and physical on the same day.

(As my son has his application for West Point, we also took care of all of this earlier.)

Once done, both of those doctors will send their results and you then wait for the letter that states that either you are qualified, they need to do a remedial or you are disqualified for whatever reason. If disqualified you then have to go for the waiver process which can be lengthy. His other friend also took a months because of some of the test results. She unfortunately did not get her waiver granted and lost her Navy Scholarship in the end.

My son was qualified but it still took about 6 weeks or so after his exams to get his letter. His friend had some issues and it took months and months for his waiver.

My suggestion is to go read the Dodmerb boards. You will learn a tremendous amount there and will also find some of the reasons that may need a waiver.

Congratulations by the way! What a wonderful thing for your son. I hope he is as happy once he is at school and in ROTC as my son is. He really loves it. Tonight he is at his first Military Ball. I must say he looks incredible in his dress blues!

thank you! He benefited a lot from all the wisdom and advice on this board from folks like you!!!

It generally takes about a week or so to get the information to DODMERB. Larry Mullen is the man if you have any DODMERB questions/problems.

educateme - I'm not sure why you didn't post this on the DoDMERB site, but oh well, I can't move it anyway. Cut and paste your posting; provide complete name and last 4 SSN; and send to me in an email at Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil. I will reply tonight if U send today:thumb:

thanks for the suggestion about the DoDMerb forum. I did not even know that there is a forum for DoDMerb on this site (service arcademy forums). Now, I will have another forum site to frequent!

Yep, for those who have offers the next phase of the process is supported on the DODMERB forum, where Larry is always ready to help.

Correct-a-mundo, but posting to the DoDMERB site vice my advise above was a bit curious:confused::confused::confused:

I would agree with the others here in saying that by the end of the year is slim to none. Due to West Point, I got mine done earlier, too. I got the letter to complete it on September 5 and did not get an initial decision until November 2. The exams were in late September, but due to a paper snafu by the doctor's office, DODMERB could not get the papers.

My best advice with it is follow through if something seems off-a phone call never hurts. Also, don't believe it when people say that a "yes" means "displalify me." I had at least 6 "yes" answers on my medical history, explained them properly and got a good explanation written by the examiner, and I was qualified right off the bat.

Again, I concur with soxfn2041:thumb:
