Hi all. There is another kid in my highschool who is applying to the Naval Academy (and more in the area around my highschool). What are the chances that two kids from the same school get accepted? Or the chances of a few kids from the same area. I know you can't tell me the chances as you don't know but if you could just tell me if it has happened before or if it is uncommon I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Agreed. In fact, there are often twins at the SAs. From same school and same family and same class year.

One of our local high schools recently had three seniors from the same class go to the USAFA.

My son goes to USNA, two of his friends went to West Point. All 3 in a graduating class of 60. What are the odds? They all grew up together and played football together and didn't know the others were applying until the fall of their senior year. It happens.

All the above examples are reasons that everyone should apply for all nomination sources available. Theoretically, a single school could include the VP, both Senators, and the Representative. Also, every third or fourth year, a MOC will have two openings. Additionally, some schools are represented by more than one Congressional district. My son's school fell into this category. Gerrymandering makes strange bedfellows. And don't forget the national pool. Even though it is getting smaller, a substantial part of the class still comes from this source. Not even mentioned is ROTC and Presidential.

Mongo is right on the money with the various possiblities. There are currently 2 Mids at USNA from my Mids old high school. 2 years ago there were 6 Mids. Large HS covered by 3 congressional districts.

Just for fun:

PLEEBS where challenged to change uniform from PT to Class Uniform and back again within one minute and beat the Detailer. Then change to Dress Uniform and back again to standard class uniform and beat the Detailer. Detailers were Twins! LOL. There are many possibilities. Sempre Gumbe!

No winner and all PLEEBES lost. PLEEBES were very confused and never figured it out. Had other things on their mind. Expect the unexpected!

Also, it is not unusual for private high schools to have students commuting from several congressional districts (eg, Cleveland with 5 districts within easy commuting distance) to have multiple appointees. One year one such school had 4 NA appointees.

True, I know of at least 2 sets of twins in 2013.

I have identical twins in 2013. I think there are actually five sets of twins in 2013.

The academy doesn't seem to have a problem with twins in the least. Not only are mine identical, but their academic/extracurricular status was nearly identical. If one was qualified, I don't see how the other could not be.

During the application process, we got a funny note from one of the senator's Service Academy Coordinator stating that we needn't send everything in separate envelopes as we had been doing. She was aware that they were twins and that we could "save the postage" - she would sort it out.
