Looking forward to having my Plebe home for the first time since I-Day! Here is one only a military mom/dad can appreciate...Got a text from my kid right after his last class today. "Mom, is my room really dusty?"

I'll get his Navy brother, who will be home a couple hours before him, to get in there and make sure his room is SAT! hahaha

Hope you guys get to see your Mids, if not for Thanksgiving, then for Christmas! Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

We invited a Plebe over for Thanksgiving; My plan was to have him do chow call for dinner!

let's hope the Mid hasn't lost a sense of humor along with his hair and once-egocentric identity.

It will pass. My son used to be a neat -freak, making his bed every single day, putting everything in it's place. But now that he "has" to be 24/7 he comes home, dumps the uniform ASAP, and lives in the same clothes for days, never making his bed until the day he reports back.

^^^ Popeyesmom - I'm so glad you posted this! My son was a complete neat-freak, too - I say "was" because he didn't make his bed once while home this Thanksgiving weekend, a complete reversal of his pre-Plebe neatnik self! I didn't say anything but thought to myself "what the heck?" I was just happy that he could let go and be a slob for a couple of days if he wanted to!

Even though we had to leave for the airport at 4:45AM Sunday, he left his room ship shape, I'm happy to report. :thumb:

Sometimes they change - sometimes they don't.

My Plebe reverted back to her messy self immediately upon walking in the door. When she left, bed was unmade, draws open with shirts hanging from them, dirty clothes piled on the floor, bathroom a mess...

Who cares? It was so nice to have her home.

Same here!:shake:

Had my Petty Officer dust the room for my him. Plebe was grateful, especially that his keyboards were clean. He misses his music more than anything else.

But...when I went into his room after he left, there were two piles of clothes on the floor that looked like he had simply evaporated and left his clothes behind! If he has learned a skill, it is to undress in one motion and leave his clothes in the smallest possible footprint.

Oh, he also learned that sleeping in wastes the day...he woke all of us up on Friday at 0700 with Christmas music. (He had already been up for nearly an hour.) When we got up, he had all the Christmas decorations in from the shed and had the mantle decorations up. :thumb:

Do you think it was the rapture?

Hoping I didn't miss it~

Don't worry about the sleeping anomaly. Plebes become youngsters ...and re-learn how to sleep, albeit w/ one eye open.

Haha...not likely, Whistle Pig, since there were two piles in different places...and I distinctly remember taking him to the airport in uniform!

Not worried about the sleeping. I liked his motivation!
