My son has his nomination so we are just waiting to see if he gets an appointment.

I think I'm becoming a junkie on this website. I'm constantly checking to see if anyone else is getting an appointment. My thought process is that if others are getting theirs, maybe it means we will know something soon.

Good lord the waiting is killing me. I think I've read a few thousand posts on here.

Is there a certain time of the year when the majority of the appointments are announced?

The majority (~1000) of the appointments are released mid-March.

Welcome to the Club

We were in your spot last year...and so were many others. If you think you're a junkie now, just wait until your son (God willing) is in BCT and you're spending hours and hours going over webguy pictures looking for a glimpse of your son. It brings to life the game "Where's Waldo." Good luck and welcome to the board.

Thanks for the support. By the way, where are these webguy pics, sounds interesting.

That's funny. My daughter announced just this morning that she has been "forum free" ever since LOA's started coming out. She just couldn't take it! I know there must be a 12 step program somewhere for this .

Hang in there.

The Webguy is a service of the USAFA Asociation of Graduates. Webguy (a/k/a Marty) follows the kids daily through BCT and puts up pictures every day on the website. It will become an obsession for you as a parent to be on there every day looking for pictures of your child, who now looks just like every other kid there.

Here is the website : http://www.usafawebguy.com/#

I'm glad I'm not the only "junkie" here. I am constantly checking this site all day..for anything new. My daughter has a congressional, senatorial, and Presidential nomination. The waiting is so hard, she has been planning this moment of her life since she was 11 years old. I just want it so bad for her.

Cgchirs99 – Clearly understand your love for the information on this site.

My son received his appointment on November, 23 and I check this site everyday for new information.

Best of luck to your son!

Are you kidding me?!?! My DS is only a freshman and we’re both already junkies! We logon just to see if there’s any new information we get for two to three years from now where we’re in the thick of process!!! It never fails! He send me a txt or calls me asking me something I have no idea about and we start scouring the site for the answer and without fail we find something else we didn’t’ know about! And then start adding in this time of the year when Nominations and Acceptance start to show up so I read those because I’m happy to see one of the fine candidates on this site make it!

I need a life :frown:

Wow Boozebin, you may want to consider that 12 step program as you and your DS have a bit of a haul ahead of you. . .

Seriously, I am also a junkie but our DS received his congressional nomination yesterday and one senatorial nomination last week so our house is happy (except for our younger daughter who is SICK of hearing about the USAFA). However based on all the great information on this site, I continue to remind my family that DS is only half way there and that he has to get through A-Day in August before he is actually in the Wing. And even that is just the beginning of the process as he wants to be a physician in the Medical Corps (at this point anyway).

Which is all to say that I'm struggling with getting to next August. . . just need to focus on the next step, one day at a time!

Our DD is VERY tired of the AFA stuff. We have not even gotten to the MOC interview yet........

I've been checking CC and now this site since 2006 - before Hornetguy reported to Basic. Now he's at Rand and our cadet graduates in less than 6 months (we're heading to Tempe to watch him jump into the Insight Bowl over the holidays). We used to talk about his class would be replaced by the class of 2015 and how far in the future that seemed. Now in a blink of an eye it's nearly here.

Gasdoc, How exiting!!!
Our son jumped into the the Insight Bowl three years ago--It was awesome!!! Be sure to go on the stadium walk through on the practice day--you can get some great shots while you have room to move around while the stadium is empty--Enjoy!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the walk through...we're excited.

I am addicted too:redface: when I get my morning coffee I check my email, facebook and then SAF. This a weird social place. People like me with ADD type interrupting issues (opps, i did it again) can jump into conversations with people they don't know and jump back out again. Is this a good thing? I actually read and comment on all of the threads. Is that bad ettiquette? I will try to police myself but I have learned so much from so many people and totally enjoy reading all the posts. Is this a phase or an addiction? We shall see!
