Well our ds has just left with two other midshipmen. They are sharing their through-the-night-driving to be at KP for the 12:00 arrival time for CO's and watch on Sunday. Food for the road, for cookie cafe, a surprise straight-from- the-heart-letter for him to open when he digs through his bags. There never seems to be enough time on these breaks, at least from a parent's POV. He had a great time, is rested and ready to go, which is what counts. It is always hard to say good bye. :sadwavey:Especially now, knowing he'll be gone for the rest of the tri and for 8 months at sea. I know I"ll get through it. Maybe an alien ship will take me to LI before he leaves.....:spacecraft:

I'm sad for you! Hopefully your alien buddies will come through for you.

I know it is hard to see them leave but at least you got to see them, mine is out at sea.

Why not come up and volunteer during Cookie Cafe. Bring some cookies that you baked or from Grandma, aunts, church friends, etc. and visit with your child. One mom has driven several times from Texas with a car full of cookies. Another mom came on Amtrack with a suitcase full of cookies. The mids love to see the moms (and dads, sisters) and share a favorite family cookie with their friends.
