Well we've been sitting back and watching everyone post their great news, with excitement for you all that have received notices, and finally we have some to report ourselves.

Son received a call from his Representative's Distric Manager who advised him he was receiving a nomination from their office. He was told that while they are not submitting a Primary/Alternate slate he was however at the top of their slate. Not sure what that means in the whole scheme of things but he is 3 Q'd so, we are hoping for the best. Admissions also posted a JROTC Nomination on his candidate page this week.

I think it means that your son has an excellent shot at an appointment!

Last year, almost 2 out of 3 candidates in your son's position (3Q w/nomination) received USMA appointments.

3,746 - USMA nominated
2,039 - USMA 3Q candidates w/nomination
1,305 - USMA appointments

Thanks all for the kind words and encouragement! Time to sit back and wait. In the mean time we are visiting USMA this coming Tuesday for an admissions tour. It will be nice to have the Nomination info when we go.

Enjoy your visit! Try to find time to visit the Army museum just outside Thayer Gate - behind the visitor center. The uniform and weapon collections are outstanding.

Thanks for the advice. We will most definitely try to visit all of those areas.

Did anyone who has visited get a chance to visit the engineering facilities? I am curious how they compare to other private/public schools.

Thanks Antoinette!

The visit was outstanding. My son was very impressed with all that he got to see. He attended a Chemistry class and it just so happened that one of his best friends from high school last year was in the class. He is a '011 cadet this year. Vito happened to have the afternoon off so he showed him around a bit more and filled him in on a lot of first year stuff.

This was actuallly the second time we were there. Last fall we went to see Army/AF football game.Watched the cadet parade. They had all kinds of activities like a stealth bomber fly over , Helos and parachutists.

We also stopped at the museum on your recommendation and that was great.

Thanks again

West Point is - well - its awesome! I am glad you and your son had a good visit. And you went to the museum! Did you see the buckskin uniform jacket from the late 1800's and on the wall next to it the native American painting of Custers's Last Stand? How about the huge carved wooden Nazi plaque that Patton had shipped back at the end of WWII? And the small arms, the automatic weapons - their collection is incredible.

And now your son has a primary nomination...looks like West Point will be his new home come this summer - if he so chooses!

Many congratulations!

Thanks again Antoinette! We are very excited. The good news can't come fast enough. I wonder how we have to wait?

I found the small arms very interesting and since I work for General Dynamics tank stuff always fascinates me.
