Last year, I applied at the very end of Febuary, found out that I was fully qualified about a week later, then found out that I was put on the waiting list about a week after that. I found out that I was rejected about a month later. This year, I completed my application much earlier, and have still heard nothing. I have two nominations, have been cleared by DODMERB, etc. Is there any sort of schedule to when they review applications, send out notices, etc.? Thanks

Well, it could be until around March that you hear back from Admissions. If you ended up being the highest WCS on any of your MOC's slates (provided that they did send in a competitive slate), you could hear back even sooner.

- When did you hear that you won the vacancy for your Rep. Do you know if you are the Principal or if you are #1 on a competitive slate?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but if your Congressperson uses principal nominations and you're their principal nom, if you're qualified by USMA, you automatically get an appointment. That's the only way I can think of that you would be notified right now. Unless you have an LOA already. Then it's just a matter of you fulfilling the conditions and having everything processed and the appointment offer mailed to you. Otherwise, you'd have to wait until March ("-Mass Mailing") to hear back I guess.
-my file was complete January 7th. But that was just when my college transcripts arrived, the rest was completed in early december
-I have not received a letter stating that I am qualified, which is part of why I am concerned
-I received my nomination from my Senator on 11/23, and my Rep on 12/13. I was told that I was his #1, but I do not know if it was Competitive or Principal based
-I am not officially recruited. I recently sent my game films in and havent heard anything back yet
I'm not really expecting to get my Appointment tomorrow, but I would like to at least find out that I am qualified. I have been told by some people that the admissions office meets every two weeks to decide, is there a set schedule like that, and as for the March mass mailing, does that mean even if I was accepted I wouldnt know until March? If your MOC told you you were their #1, then that means that once you are seen as triple qualified by West Point, you should receive your appointment pretty soon.
You probably haven't received your letter yet because it's been less than a week since you've had your file complete. Maybe they'll give it out sometime this month.
It depends on if MOC gave PDB88 the principal nomination or an alternate nomination just ranking him #1 out 10 alternate nominations. Most MOC don't do principal nomination.
With a principal nomination and full qualified you are in. But if MOC gave no principal nomination and gave 10 alternate nominations, West Point gets to pick their top candidate, not necessarily MOC's #1 candidate. Assuming that the MOC's nomination board is competent, there is a good chance MOC's #1 and West Point's #1 are the same. But what if MOC's #2 is also fully qualified and a recruited athlete?
I feel the same way. I only completed my file two days ago and I'm hoping I'm the highest WCS on my congressman's slate, come this Friday, when his office sends out all the letters to notify the candidates, which would mean appointment pretty soon...that's if I am 3Q'd, which I also don't know if I am yet.
Of course, I have no way of knowing if I will be the highest WCS, and I could very well end up on the NWL, probably not finding out until March. The wait is dreadful, but I look forward to going back to Tech and taking my mind off that stuff, focusing on my college work again. If I find out soon, all the better, but if not until March, that's fine with me too.
I figured that if they said he was #1, it probably means principal nomination, or #1 candidate and 9 other alternates. I assumed either way meant appointment if he was 3Q'd.

It 'sounds' like you are the Principal for your Rep. - so let's assume you are. If you're 3Q'd with a Principal nom then you will receive an appointment.
I'm going to assume that you have passed the CFA.
SO, all you are missing is the 'qualified' part.
Your file was not complete until January 7 which is understandable since the last piece was your 1st semester college transcript.
Files are not reviewed for qualification until they are complete. Chances are your file has not been reviewed yet to be qualified.
The qualification process is this: once a candidate's file is complete, your RC will review it and make sure everything looks good, then he passes it on to a random member of the Admissions committee who checks it and then passes it on to another RC who looks it over. Once your file passes these 3 checks, then your file can be officially 'Qualified' or "Not Qualified". Depending on how busy they are, this 3 check process could take take several days, maybe a week of two and this time of year, I bet the RCs are very busy qualifying many files. It has only been 6 days since your file was complete.
The Admissions Committee meets EVERY Tuesday. They only make offer decisions on files that are 3Q'd with a nom. But the Admissions committed can't make an offer on your file until you are qualified and your file may not be qualified yet and may not be for a few weeks. Your file could be 'Qualified' on a Wednesday and it won't go before the Admissions committee until the next Tuesday.
How will you know if you are qualified? Well sometime candidates will get a letter saying that you are but some candidates don't.
You could contact your MALO/FFR and see if they could give you some answers there.

Ok thanks, I'm pretty sure that I passed the CFA, I was only below average in pull ups, and far above average in pretty much everything else.
Also, I received an email today from the football coach saying that I have been invited to walk on. This means that I am not a recruited athlete, so I don't think that will be much help for admissions. However, he also said that my file looked strong and that I should be getting an appointment "soon." the skeptical side of me thinks that this probably just means that my file looks good, and that they don't really know if/ when I am getting an appointment. However, my optimistic side keeps getting the best of me, so I've been guarding my mailbox and checking my portal hourly.
One last thing, I have an interview with my state liaison...is this Normal/important/ make or break?

I would say it's pretty important, but if you truly want to be an officer, you should have no problems with it...probably even creating a relationship with the officer.
I had an interview with my congressional liaison a couple months ago and I found out he was a really good and easy person to talk to. He and I have created a pretty good relationship and I find him to be a really good resource if I was ever at doubts with anything.
I'm not worried about the interview (in no way am I trying to sound conceited, it's just that at this point ive been through two years of congressional interviews, interviews to get in to Valley Forge, and multiple Cap Shield boards at VF- best practice ever for a stressful interview)

Well from what I understand, a liaison will seek you out for an interview if he/she views you are a strong candidate. As you might imagine, there's many, many kids that apply for the SA and they simply don't have the time to set up interviews with all 10k+ kids that apply. If you are chosen for an interview, view that as something good. They want to know more about you and want to help you. So therefore, a good interview will certainly help your case, as they probably will end up reporting back to the SA about how you did and/or highly recommend you as a strong candidate.
An interview is not 'points earning' because not every candidate can be interviewed because there are not enough MALOs/FFRs to interview every candidate.
But since you have one scheduled - I'm not positive, but I don't think your file will be reviewed until your interview is conducted, report written and submitted to the RC.
Basically an interview is a give and take. It is an opportunity for us to make sure you understand what USMA is about and what you are signing on for.
The interview is also a time for the candidate to ask us any questions they have about West Point and the service required upon graduation.

Not exactly. West Point determines which candidates require a interview.
Well I inadvertently asked for the interview..I emailed my state liason asking what else I needed to do for my application (after my file was complete). He said that I looked good but we could schedule an interview so I said it can't hurt and went ahead and scheduled one
That is interesting. Doesn't sound like you were a 'required' interview then, but maybe it is because this is your 2nd time to apply. You've got a great attitude and a real desire to go to West Point. I'm sure that the liaison will see that through your interview.
