Does the AFA website ever get updated during the day?

Or are the updates made just once every morning?

If you don't see any new information by noon, does that mean you can ignore the website until the next morning after it gets resynched?

I ask because I've never seen anything change during the day and every morning the website goes down for a few minutes while they put up a 'synching' message.

Yes, the application website does get updated during the day. A few weeks ago, I checked the site late in the morning and then DS called me later in the day to say that his application had changed.

Several people noted yesterday that their statuses had change during the morning.

USAFA is in the mountain time zone - so if you check in the morning on the east coast then check later in the morning it could just be that they updated the web site in the am in their time zone...don't know the answer to your question though.

my thought exactly and why I posted the original question!

I'm starting to think they make their changes 'offline' and then overnight it gets ready to upload and then uploaded once each morning and that's it for the day. Hope I'm way wrong...

just shoot me with all the waiting...what a relief it's going to be when it's over no matter what the final outcome!

that's ambiguous. could mean in the morning after the usafa resynching.

I meant it happened after the synching. Nothing changed with the sync but 4 hours later the status had changed. Thus, it changed during the morning, i.e., not over night.

ugh, ya killin' me. I was hoping I could just open the USAFA website once a day and be done with it!:thumb:

OK, I'll keep hitting the refresh button and hope the lottery rolls our way!

If they still do it the way they did it 3 yrs ago, you will find it going down on Thursday to update the status of apptmts.

Boards meet on Monday, apptmt letters are compiled on Wed., candidates get the BFE over the weekend or Monday.

You can refresh that button every hour on the hour, but they have a pat system.

My best suggestion is to look and see a commonality on the dates of the letters for the apptmts already given. If they are all still written on Wed., than stop torturing yourself with a daily check in, and wait until Thurs or Fri., for the change.

My other suggestion is to repeat this MANTRA:

75% of all AFA apptmts occur in MARCH.

Being Snoopy over the mailbox only does one thing...create frustration and fear!

Accepting that 75% of you are all in the same boat, allows you to accept life and live it for the remaining time you have at home with your friends and family. Trust me come Aug. you will miss them and wish for Mom's Chicken casserole and hanging with your friends on Sat night playing Xbox Halo until 2 in the morning.

Don't rush your life and wish it away for that envelope. That envelope will come fat or thin soon enough; you can't rewind the clock when the envelope arrives ~ ask your folks about their biggest regrets, I think they will agree TIME ranks the highest.

Get that apptmt and fear does not or will not end, now it becomes OMG what if I get injured playing LAX or OMG what if I can't make it through BCT.

You need to BELIEVE in yourself and that this is the path you were destined to walk!

Pima - not sure your BFE mailing dates are correct. we looked at mailing dates on the BFE ds recieved on thursday because we were visiting the academy on Monday. The letter was dated Monday 1/10,and the BFE was mailed the same day 1/10 from the postal service date stamp - we recieved the BFE on thursday 1/13 - we live in western ny. funny part for us is they could've handed us the BFE while visiting!!
all i can say is - it isn't as much fun going to get the mail anymore!

Things change over the yrs. Last I knew the board met on Monday, admissions got the list on Wed and that is when they sent them out.

I still contend that if you look at the dates they are very close +/- 1 day.

You will not find 7 days out of 7 days regarding apptmts, common thread is they are all get the apptmts @ a 7 day cycle... OCT 19, 26, Nov. 23...14 days later Dec 7th... etc.

Again the mail has an impact and also the regional AFA impacts how quick they go out, bit in the end, you can see that they are clumped together regarding the date on a whole.

Also, MARCH IS THE MONTH!

Congrats to your DS, but 75-80% DO NOT get apptd until MARCH. I would hate for any candidate that is still waiting for the BFE to think it is over, it isn't!
