R-Day SAF Dinner 2011

Last year the SAF dinner the night before R-Day was said to be a a lot of fun - is anyone interested in organizing one for this year? It would be the night before R-Day (June 27th) so June 26th.

A few of us who have discussed it are leaning towards having it at the Thayer, but other suggestions are more than welcome! If we can start getting a head count now we can flesh out more details later as we get closer.

Last year when it was organized, some of the Forum's candidates met up for a dinner the night before R-Day. It's just a nice get together dinner for the forumers here. It sounded like a nice event.

Last year it was at Painter's. The Thayer sounds kind of expensive but it's you guys' event.
 
I put this together last year (so whoever takes the reigns, if you have questions PM me) and we held it at Painters. The food there was great and it cost $15 per person. It was a nice way to relax the night before RDay.
 
Would this be do-able with the 'gov't ticket package' on the travel gray card?
 
I would love to try to make it!

Edit: Oop, I don't know how many people are going with me yet. Will update and let you guys know a specific number when I know more.

I am on maybe since I live in NYC and we were originally supposed to drive up at around 5am. I will have to ask to see if my parents would want to rent out a hotel room.

AKH and I looked into originally having the dinner at the Thayer, but the price was a little steep for the amount of people we would have. We are currently looking into Painter's restaurant. Once we have confirmation or reservations we will let everyone know who is interested in attending. :thumb:

AKH and I were going to wait until March to bump the thread to see if any new appointees had any interest. We need a ballpark estimate of how many people will be attending before we make any reservations. We looked into the Thayer catering but regardless of the amount of people who attend it is too pricey for what we are looking at. We have attempted to contact Painter's Restaurant and will talk to them again once we have a better estimate of how many people will be attending.
