Southwest pilot holds flight for grieving grandfather

It’s great to hear stories like this from time to time. Good to know that people still care in huge companies like SW Airlines, and have enough of a heart to hold it for him.

The circumstances are too bad though, a man having to watch his 2 year old grandson die is something that I can’t even put into words.

Our very close friend is a SWA pilot, they are known to do this. Not only that, but the pilots are also known to come onto the tarmac prior to flight and salute to a coffin that they will carry to their final destination. Our friend had their grandparent traveled via SWA, he was WWII vet, when his body was taken off, the entire crew of the aircraft was on the tarmac to receive his body.

SWA should also be respected for their professional way they handle these types of things.

OBTW the only way to know if they were AF or Navy is to be the way they take off and land!

AF uses every ounce of runway on take off and every ounce on landing (slow ascent and slow descent). Navy likes to go up as quick as they can and when they land it feels like you are taxiing forever to get to the terminal, because as soon as they see pavement they set their wheels down (quick ascent and quick descent) :wink:
 
And if they're Coast Guard, they're usually very attractive.


I love Southwest. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

They lost my bag in Ft. Lauderdale and when I checked in, and let them know my toothbrush, shaving equipment, etc was in the bag, they gave me a sweet SWA travel bag, that had everything I could possibly need.

My money, and frequent flights, go to SWA.
 
I’m generally a Delta person, solely because my dad flies with them most of the time (and thats a lot) so they love my family.
I have yet to have a bad experience with SWA. Actaully I was flying to Florida for winter break (CAP winter encampment at Tyndall :biggrin:) and I had a pretty good conversation with the flight attendants, who were AF NG, one was a C-130 Pilot. The plane made a stop in some random airport, and while we waited for everybody to get on and off we just chatted. It made the flight a whole lot nicer, especially because I was flying alone, which gets boring.
