I'm a bit confused about an email my son received yesterday from train2lead. It read as follows:

------------------------------

FOLLOW-UP NOTICE
U.S. Army ROTC 4-year College Scholarship

Your application for a four-year Army ROTC Scholarship has been processed
and is considered complete. You will be informed of your final selection
status no later than May 30th.

For more information about Army ROTC, contact a Professor of Military
Science at any of the universities listed in your application booklet, or
visit armyrotc.com.

You can also e-mail your questions to train2lead@usacc.army.mil.

Cadet Command Form 115-la, SEP 01

--------------------------------

He completed the application process in November (online application and PT test) and had his interview with a local PMS on December 13th 2010. We were trying to complete everything promptly in hopes that he would be considered for the January board. Even after the interview, like everyone else, the ROTC scholarship status has been listed as "You have been selected for an interview..." so we just assumed everything was progressing as it should have been.

With receipt of the above email, should my son assume his application did not go before the January board? I was a little concerned when the PMS he interviewed with (on Dec 13th) told him the next scholarship board didnt meet until February of 2011. Is this a sign that his interview evaluation form might have been turned in late?

Call the ROO at the college your son interviewd at. Ask him to check your son's application and confirm if he went before the Jan. board or if he will be seen only by the last board. The ROO can see his entire application online and determine which boards he has been reviewed.

We received a few emails from Cadet Command during the process and some of them came well after the issues had already been resolved. Checking with the ROO sould clear everything up.

Actually what this letter is telling you is that NLT March. Could know sooner, but if his file was looked at by the second board, and he doesn't get an offer, then he competes against third boarders and eveyone still in the pile, hence March. You will need to check with a ROO to see if your son's file was boarded in the second round. Deadline was pushed up to the 20th of December, so his interview may or may not have been submitted on time.

Don't you just love the vague, impersonal tone of the letter. Makes it so easy for me to appear like I'm being helpful when I'm just doing my job.

Good luck.

I sure appreciate everyone who took the time to reply and the advice and suggestions offered. I contacted the ROO at my sons's first choice school. He said he thought everything was in order and that the email may have been triggered by my having changed my son's SAT scores on the four year scholarship web site the day before. My son improved his math score on a second SAT test and we entered same thinking if he wasnt selected on the 2nd board it would better his chances for the 3rd board.

I guess whether he was or wasnt there isnt much I can do about it. Seriously though, thanks for everyone's replies above.

We were told that letters drom Feb board were sent out on mon feb 28,2011...my son didnt recieve anything this week...does that mean that he wont or didnt recieve anything from feb board? and does he automatically become eligilble for march board? Its been such a long wait and its been hard to find he didnt make this seond board...iI am wondering about his choice of schools(all private) shouls we have chosen a state school?

Winterhater - my DS also received the same email about 2/3 weeks ago..he also had something added/changed on his application. He was boarded in the Jan board (we had already received this email last fall)so it is something generated by the system, we have received other letters referring to college credits earned and we were told to disregard by CC.
