Hi everyone-

I am having my Eagle Scout board of review tonight, and if all goes well I will be walking out as an official Eagle Scout! I was just wondering how I should notify the Academy of this. What is the most effective way? Should I call? Also, do I need to show any sort of proof?

When I made team captain for football after my application was done, I told my BGO and he sent it in for me. Not sure what everyone's relationship with their BGO is but it worked for me. Otherwise you could probably make a quick call to admissions. I also got an email a week or so later (I assume when they were reviewing my application) to have my guidance counselor confirm it- not sure if you do this for eagle scout, however

Congratulations Eagle Scout--- job well done----i suggest your Blue and Gold--DS had to change his extracurriculars a lot senior year -his experience was to inform the Blue and Gold first and go from there most guidance councilpersons have so many other students to think about you may fall through the cracks ---just our experience.

Almost forgot--join NESA the academy has a group you can join if you want to continue on your Scouting path.

Congrats Eagle Scout....my DS got his a few months ago. Hope the Academy values it half as much as we do.

Good job

Congratulations on attaining Boy Scouts highest rank. My DS is also an Eagle Scout...he has been sending updates to his regional director as found on his candidate portal. He always receives a confirmation of the update and a thank you. Best of luck to you!

From what I heard at NASS.. don't cite me:
Your WCS (whole candidate score?) is based on leadership, academics, etc.
And if you reach Eagle Scout, or Captain of a Varsity team, the Mids told me that Admissions gives you a "100" for that leadership third of your score.

I agree with arewethereyet My Plebe is also an Eagle Scout and whenever he updated his file he contacted his regional director. He always received a confirmation of the update and a thank you, also.

The Eagle is one of the things NAVY tracks quite closely - check the 2014 class profile. I would recommend you work through your BGO or the guidance office to transmit your Eagle accomplishment.

Congratulations and best wishes going forward.

Thank you everyone! I decided to work through my BGO.

Any input on how I should go about notifying the NROTC Scholarship Folks?

Congrats from the Eagle Class of 2009 and the Vigil Honor Class of 2011!

Congrats

Being a panel member on one of our scouts Eagle board was one of the most rewarding things I have done. As an Air Force Colonel, I have done alot of neat stuff, but on this day I got to join in the pride, of this young mans honor.

Regardless of what happens with the academy, you'll always be an Eagle Scout, I am jealous, I couldn't be an Eagle myself.

Congratulations.

Notification of Eagle

Congrats on your Eagle. My son is a USNA candidate with a nomination. His Eagle came through last week. He notified his B&GO of that achievement with a copy (PDF) of the Eagle certificate and, on the advise of a Navy Captain, sent a hard copy of the certificate to the Admissions Office. BTW, you can expedite the paper work at BSA headquarters by requesting it and paying $40 for FEDEX. They turned around my son's papers in 24 hours -- we had the official package the next day.

Can you PM me and tell me exactly how I can expedite the paperwork. My application and completed board of review forms were sent in to the National Council last week. Also, my dad is a pilot for FEDEX so I can get a discount on the expedited shipping.

It may be too late to do it now. You ask your Council for expedition when your Troop Leader turns in the completed Eagle Application with all the EBOR signatures. Council then faxes the application to BSA and they FED EX it back to Council and then Council calls your Troop to notify them that the package has been received. Since I am a Troop Leader, I hand carried my son's completed Eagle Application to Council and give them $40 to pay for the Fed. Ex. shipment and they did all the work after that.
