So I am trying to get into USNA, with the goal of majoring in Chem, on of the Engineering courses (probably aeronautical), or political science. I am a junior in high school and we are going to have to start scheduling our classes for next year and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for my schedule.

AP Comparative Government/We the People (semester long each)
AP Chemistry
AP English
Functions/Statistics/Trigonometry (FST)
Pre-Calculus
Newspaper (have been doing since freshman year. am currently feature editor)

I have taken AP Biology and AP Government already along with chemistry as a freshman and am currently in physics. Does this sound like a good schedule to prepare me? Any recommendations? I'd appreciate it.

If you can take Calc, vs. Pre-Calc, do it. Years ago, I did pre-Calc and wished like anything I'd taken the higher level in h.s.

One other thing, USNA has said that they don't particularly value statistics and don't consider it a "math" class. Personally, I disagree with that view but it's their view that counts. A high level language would be good as a "replacement." However, the rest looks ok, so this shouldn't hurt you.

I would do regular calc but they only offer pre-calc or AP calc. and I have to take FST to be able to take pre-calc (its a pre-requisite. kind of a long story) and I have taken 3 years of Spanish (including this year) so that will probably be my back up class. I am just not sure I want to do newspaper for a 4th year. We'll see. I'll probably decide once they tell me what editor position I have next year (I'm shooting for Editor in Chief but idk what will happen)

So, taking AP Statistics next year would not help my competitiveness for admission? If it is not worth it then I was also thinking of AP Euro or AP Macro- or Micro- Economics

I should be clear that it won't help in the way that math or science will help. USNA basically said that they don't care if you take Stats (ironically, it's required for a number of majors at USNA, or at least it was). Obviously, it's not a "fluff" course and an A or high B will be viewed favorably as would an A in a high level language, history, etc.

i'd go with ap euro

it's a fun course and I think it definitely helped me in getting a nomination (i took it in 10th grade)

also, European history is just a good thing to know
