Does anyone know how you find out whether or not you passed your cfa? Does your RD contact you or do you have to contact them? Also my RD isn't very responsive so could I call the admissions office? I have a letter of assurance so all I need to do is pass and I just want to make sure I did because there was one score I'm not very happy with.
Thanks!

Don't hold me to it but I think the USNA only contacts you if you've failed. I don't know how long that may take however. Other than that they send you a letter stating that you have been found "board qualified", so if you have one of those then you passed. If not try contacting your BGO and give him/her your scores, they should be able to give you a rough estimate as to whether you passed or not. I'm sure you can find the minimum score somewhere online. I know I've seen them before I just don't remember where.

Yes, it is true that USNA only contacts you if you fail. Also, while they often do send the "board qualified" letter to candidates, they don't send it to all of them.

There are technically no actual minimum scores for the CFA, only maximum. The minimum scores you probably refer to are the lowest scores people posted for each event, while those individuals still passed the CFA.

A good judge for minimum should be minimum score for the Navy PFT. Those i know are definitely out there.

Thank you for the responses I have a letter of assurance and all that's left is passing the cfa. I got 32 seconds on the arm hang, 40 ft on the ball throw, 12 sec on the shuttle run, 83 sit-ups, 50(max) pushups, and 9 minute mile. I know the mile isn't good that's what I'm worried about... I cam get an 8 minute mile but I was sick while taking the test. Is the mile too low to pass? I am female btw.

First, congratulations.

Second, and no offense intended, but those scores are marginal. I would definitely get confirmation from admissions.

Third, start working now to get in better condition for plebe summer. It's tough enough mentally, you certainly don't want to come in struggling with the physical aspects. There are many good suggestion in these forums for how to do that.

The mile is very slow, even for a female. Even if you are considered passing, that part of your CFA won't help. Pushups and crunches are obviously ok. If you can do an 8-min mile after completing thee other events, I suggest you retake the test and resubmit.

As the above poster said, I would definitely work on running b/t now and plebe summer. As someone (also female) who struggled with running, I can promise you that every minute you put into improving will pay huge dividends. PM me if you have add'l questions.

Wow, congratulations on the huge change, especially in pull ups!

Thanks again for te replies and the honesty. I just found out I passed and yes I intend to do a lot more preparation! (lots and lots of running) :)

So, I have an additional question. The gentleman above posted that he passed the CFA with only 1 pull up. I am -1 of his score at the moment. I have been putting off taking my CFA until this last moment to try to get up to 1, however I have not had much luck. I can punch out the 60 push-ups easily, along with the 100 sit-ups and my mile run is 6:45 -7:00. I have not measured the other events, however I am sure I will preform well...How bad will not being able to do a single pull up hurt me? From my understanding USNA looks at the three scores I mentioned above most heavily. My intention is to hold off another two weeks and then do my CFA. At that point I hope to be able to do at least one... I currently am doing pull ups on an assisted pull-up machine with 30 lbs (I started at 115 about a month ago...) assisted weight. I weigh 215, so not a small man. The other thing I thought I would lump in here is for the dodmerb...I have to schedule it monday, but being 215 and only 5'8" sort of worries me...am I going to have to get a waiver or will they just look to my CFA scores and infer that I am not too badly out of shape? Will they take my nominations into account? (was nominated for USNA, USMA, and USAFA)

I know this is a lot to cover in one post, however it's coming down to the wire and University + this application is stressful!

I imagine if you can do the other events with fairly reasonable scores it won't look too bad however it might hurt you. Try to work as hard as you can to do at least 1 pull ups, cause as they say 1 pull up is better than doing the flex-arm hang forever. My advice on doing that pull up, forget about the assisted. Try doing what are called "negative pull ups." I got this out of a SEAL workout book I'm using. Jump up so you are in the flex arm hang position with your chin above the bar. Then slowly lower yourself down (10 seconds or more) to a dead hang position. Do this until your back is exhausted. This should work you up to 1 pull up. Best of luck!

As to your DODMERB question. My guess would probably not. When I visited there were mids all shapes and sizes. Even if they think you are fairly out of shape, but you still are a competitive candidate and they accept you, plebe summer is sure to change that.

I see your point. Thank you for the prompt response, it is appreciated. I have never tried the negative pull-ups, however I will work it into my workouts. I do a pull-up circuit three times a week, so it will fit nicely after I finish all three rotations.

As for the dodmerb information...that sure takes a lot off my chest. I am in perfectly good health, I just have about 25 I could stand to shave off.

You should head down to your local commercial gym, ask to speak with one of the personal trainers, hand the guy $20 and have him diagnose precisely where you are weak. Tell him that you have X number of weeks to do Y number of pull-ups. He or she will get you there.

I was skeptical about a personal trainer at first, but found that a personal trainer working with my DS made all the difference in the world. My DS had been practicing for months and saw little improvement before he asked me to put him in touch with a personal trainer. For my DS, the trainer immediately identified that my DS needed to work on his lower back muscles to improve pull-ups. It seemed counter-intuitive to me, but it worked!

You should do this TODAY. I don't think you have enough time before February 28 to try to figure this out on your own at this point.

I actually had the opposite problem: I'm about 6'1" and 130 lbs right now, and when I had my physical taken the Academy sent me a sheet with different heights and weight minimums, and I was instructed that I had to be above 135 lbs I think it was, and have an official like a school nurse weigh me. I ate a bunch for the next week, and just barely made it. I'm not sure if the Academy does the same thing on the opposite end of the spectrum but I imagine so.

My best friend is actually a certified personal trainer. We are currently working out 6 days a week to get me where I need to be. We are already aware of the problem, it's just working up to overcome it that takes the time. As I stated earlier, three weeks ago I was using 115lbs on the assisted pullups to finish a full circuit. Now I am down to 30, so I am seeing great improvements. Thank you, though. It is very good advice!

My suggestion to help with your pullup score is get one of those bars that goes in your doorway. I could barely do any until I got one. Now I do them for fun or when im bored. The only way to get better is to practice. I go to the gym, but tbh I'm doubling my last years CFA scores by doing the events I was weak in on a daily basis. Daily pushups situps and pullups. I did something like 48 pushups on my last years CFA, but now I do sets of 70 in the morning. I hope to break 80 on my CFA this years. My pullups are doubled, and my situps are around the 80's too. Only thing I'm worried about is my mile run. We've had a month of snow in NY, so its been hard to run on the track, let alone the streets.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way...but nothing more than 60 counts for push-ups... You have 2 minutes for the 60 push-ups, correct? But yes, I do have the p90x pull-up bar. I do them chair assisted pretty much every day.
