I have a S that is fully qualified. His nomination is from an MOC and I have a question regarding the rolling admission policy used by USNA.

Even though MOC slates are due on 1/31 and the cut off for applications is 3/1, I have heard that some applicants seeking waivers may not become fully qualified until well after the cut off.

If your MOC doesn't rank, how does the rolling admission work when admissions may not know which candidate is the most qualified unless they wait until all candidates on the slate have become fully qualified?

Any clarification will be appreciated.
 
I would also like to have this question answered. With DoDMERB's system down USNA and DoDMERB have no current contact, thus you can not schedule your appointment. I spoke earlier with a Yvon (I believe) at USNA Medical and she stated that not having your DoDMERB can result in a Conditional Appointment, the condition being your medical qualification. I would assume that she would be correct, however my BGO is checking up to make sure this is an accurate assessment. I'll report his findings when I contact him, but if someone else has the answer readily available I would appreciate it!

Ohmanjt - how did you get in touch with the USNA medical staff?
 
You can contact USNA Admissions regarding waivers and medical status after all records and remedials have been submitted. Call the Admission Office I don't remember the contact but you can ask (I Think) for the Medical Officer. They may be able to give you an update on the current status. They were very helpful when we had some DoDMERB issues. BGO can probably get information faster.
 
Here is the number, US2015NA: 410 293 1817. It took me about a week of calling twice a day to finally get through. Don't count on having your call returned...I waited about two weeks and just started calling every day again. GL!

However, the question was...Considering that admissions uses a "rolling admission" policy, how do they rank and make offers when the entire MOC slate, at least those that have the possibility to be fully qualified, aren't fully qualified at the same time?

Some candidate files are board qualified and and waiting for a nom on 1/31. Others may not be board qualified until they are reviewed after the cut off on 3/01 and still others may be waiting beyond that on waivers.

There was a previous discussion of this under the section, nominations, and the thread was titled Comptetitive or something like that. It has excellent explanations.

Also, Yvonne is in the person who will let you know if the USNA will seek a waiver if your DS or DD if found to be DQ'd by DoDMERB. She is very nice to work with and talk with. It seems that if they do not choose to seek a waiver immediately, they may seek one later if the candidate becomes more competitive.

YES: Yvonne is the go to person to get the up to date Medical info. Sorry if I gave her away:shake: She was very helpful with DoDMERB disqualifications forwarded to USNA Medical for review.

There was a good discussion of competitive, there, I THINK. Tired brain today, sorry. And yes! I gave Yvonne away, too. She is really nice.
 
Thanks for the tip on the previous thread.

If admissions does wait for all possible candidates within a given slate to become fully qualified, at least those that appear to have the chance, then it helps you to appreciate the "fire drill" they must go through in March and April.

It's a tough on the aging ticker for my son to be fully qualified and waiting. It doesn't seem to bother him though.
