Oh, In addition I'm medically qualified, and I attended the USAFA Summer Seminar.

Well easiest way to tell is by looking at the statistics that the USAFA provides on their prospectus. By looking at those, I think you're pretty well off.

Just one question though. About your basketball throw, is that a swimming thing? B/c I'm a swimmer too and my basketball throw was TERRIBLE, but all my other scores were pretty well off (except the mile)

That looks solid to me. Attending the Summer Seminar is a big plus.

Did you do any community service related things?

Well your pullups seem to be non-existant, which isn't very good...

Hey! Thanks for your reply, I'm not entirely sure. I would assume because during swimming, we don't really utilize our muscles in a "shot put" fashion.
In addition, I would guess that mile times would be worse as we don't really use our legs as much as running.
My throw actually was a lot worse than what I got at the summer seminar (47Ft vs. 54Ft)
What did you get on the throw and the mile?

Strike Eagle:
Thanks for your reply as well!
I did attend a youth symphony for two years.

On volunteering, I've done things here and there. For example:
I volunteered as a teacher assistant for our local Chinese school.
I volunteered at our local library fixing computers for a summer.
I volunteered for United Way and Habitat for Humanities a couple times.
Also, I routinely help friends and families with computer hardware/ software issues (I don't know if that would help but I added it on the USAFA resume).

Holy crap youre Asian too. high five!

lets see
for my CFA:
throw : 54 ft
shuttle: 10.4
pullups: 14
situps: 75
pushups: 69
mile: 8:18

yeah i am a VERY bad runner >< lol

Okay then don't shot put the basketball, throw it like a baseball. It's simple physics

just remember that CFA is a portion of your WCS...it matters.

make sure you include the torso as well when you throw. the force generated from the core of your body can add a good bit of distance.

Actually, this is all too late re: instruction. The CFA has been submitted and only the AFA can ask them to re-take the CFA, otherwise it is locked.

The AFA really pays attention to the CFA due to the altitude of the AFA.

I do not know if you score incredibly low on one aspect that it will impact your CFA...I believe the max for BBall is 100.

For 2016 candidates the CFA is something you have control over...don't submit it just to meet the 1st board. It can come back and bite you hard. Submit it when you have practiced, practiced, practiced to the point you no longer show any growth in the scores.

People are in a rush to meet the board, but they don't understand the apptmt process...NOBODY on that MOC slate can be CHARGED the apptmt until everyone has a WCS. There will be apptmts, but the highest WCS wins the MOC slate. Submitting a weak CFA can hurt you.

It is all about the WCS and the CFA is a portion of that WCS. Think about the Aesops Fable the Tortoise and the Hare...who won the race?

Pima,

In retrospect it would have been nice to hold off and try to submit the best CFA. However, sometimes you have to deal with the situation as it is given to you. I know my DS had to schedule the CFA with our sports dept at the high school (they are very busy) and the day they were available to administer the test it was about 95 degrees and humid. Not idea conditions to do the CFA. The test admin noted that on the form as simply "HOT and HUMID". I know my DS was just happy to have completed it at the time. Considering the conditions his worst event was the run, and this was right after having to do the PFA for ROTC (as I said, the sports folks are really busy so they double booked him!). My suspicion is that dealing with this sort of challenge will only make you more prepared to deal with the academy if they let you in.

As for being competive, you have to compare yourself to the slate of candidates that you MOC submitted. You'll find that they are going to have many of the traits that you do, they will be good students, athletes, etc. Right now it is a buyer's market for the Air Force, it is incredibly competitive. My feeling is that no matter what happens, if you want the Air Force as a career, be willing to accept whatever opportunity you are given. Both Alan and Cryosk8 are obviously very talented people, so I am sure that they will be sucessful no matter what. As for my DS, he has already been accepted to an SMC and one of his "reach" schools, hopefully we will get an ROTC scholarship, but he is to be boarded a third time. We have a plan A, B, and C, and I think that should be the case with everyone this year. Be flexible, do your best and be at peace with whatever comes your way.

Best,

Hey thanks to everyone for the replies!

With regards to the CFA, I waited for the swim season to almost end as that would get me my best scores.

I guess I just didn't have the right technique on the BB throw.

In addition, like FalconFamily pointed, now that I look at it, I guess I wasn't placed in the best situation as I did my CFA a week after I had bronchitis.
I had the CFA at 5:30 in the morning before we had to do weights for swimming. In addition, it was snowing so I slipped many times during the shuttle run.

However, I've already completed the CFA, and I cannot do anything about it now. All I know is I did my best on the CFA despite the circumstances.

I'm just hoping at the end it works out. But I'm prepared if otherwise.

Does anyone by chance know the minimum score for the BB throw?

Thanks again. =)

They don't post the minimums, I believe the average is like 69' though.
