Waiting...

Ok, this is my first thread post so hear it goes. I have a son who has applied to the USNA and USAFA. He has a 35 on english ACT and a 26 on the math, 4.35 gpa, lots of leadership stuff on his resume, number 10 out of 340 in his senior class rank, blah blah blah. He has both Senators nominations and his Congressmans nomination for the USNA. He did really good on the CFA and he is medically qualified and according to his BGO he made it through the first board. So now we wait. I keep seeing appointments being handed out on this forum but none from Mississippi. So whats up, as a Dad it is killing me to see him go through this waiting process. Any thoughts from anyone out there waiting.

Most of the appointments noted are LOA's I assume so the rest must wait until March/April now.

One word......patience. Read 2013 and 2014 (begin about mid march) "waiting threads" to gain an understanding of the waiting anxiety for TWE or BFE. Anxiety grows daily. Not much you can do but wait and continue to make alternate plans. Good news, year 2 application process is much less stressful than the first time around.

Hang in there! Still lots of time. Sounds like son is qualified just taking time. Congressional slates were just due at end of January and lots of candidates to get through I assume.
Our DS was fortunate enough to find out Feb 1 and did not have LOA. He was much more calm about it than I was. I am not the most patient person either. Hope you get your BFE soon. (Actually, we were stalking the mailman and did not need to as our DS found out by a personal phone call from our Senator at night in the middle of a nasty ice storm when the whole family was home! BFE came 3 days later! Keep your phone on and fingers crossed.

Excellent advice. I am sure I had about a hundred posts about stalking our mailman in the 2014 thread last year. Really hard to wait, but there is still lots of time for appointments to come out. As to many posters waiting, we all understand the pain of being in your shoes and wish you all the best of luck.

Patience...can't wait for my patience to kick in!

Yes, patience is the key word here. Most of those who have received appointments thus far are LOA recipients. Those without LOA are starting to trickle in. It also appears that these are "early bird" applicants, had their applications complete at or near the beginning of the cycle. As the saying goes the early bird gets the worm, but in this case the early bird merely gets the first worm. From what we gathered here on this forum, USNA admissions, two visits to Annapolis, one CVW, BGO, military friends, former grads, etc., the majority of folks will find out from March thru April. Remember, not all applicants are active on this forum, so while it seems like a lot are hearing good news, with less than 50 currently listed on the appointment thread, there are a lot of spots left to fill.

You sound like us, DS seemed to have the patience of a saint while Dad, stalked the forum and the mailman, kept Mom in the loop and tried to look cool as a cucumber in front of DS. When the BFE arrived we all went loopy for a while and have now settled into allowing DS to finish high school with a healthy amount of fun while maintaining the performance that got him where he is now. We have been fortunate to have friends with USNA, USMC, and USN experience to keep us sane along the way.

Best of luck to your DS. Prayer also helps when patience is at a premium.

A few observations and a question to OP:
1. Any of those noms "principal"?
2. MANY non-LOA apptmts. offered ...most are not LOAs.
3. Math might be putting him into another grouping.

Patience, Patience, Patience. Younger Sibling trying the second time appointment after Nominations last year without appointment. Trying again with Nomination this year with submitted first semester college grades without LOA. The wait is a lot worse for the second time around without looking back at the first sibling LOA and immediate appointment. What will be will be. There are other Commissioning Sources and He is working on them all.

I'm not sure if any are principal...how do you find out, I really don't want to call the Senators office or congressmans office.
