Hey community,
Recently, i was qualified for Washington state's swim meet. Since it was a state meet, it was a very competitive and popular meet. I sent West Point an email regarding my accomplishment but received no feedback from them. This was primarily for my Summer Seminar application but also for my application for USMA overall. Does USMA or any Academies actually take this into account or base your application on how many varsity letters you have?
Thank you.
Dave

From my application process, I don't recall there being any spots for state/regional tournament qualifications, just varsity letters. However, there were places where you could list all-region/all-state team sort of awards.

Your better bets are to inform the West Point swiming coach and make sure you mention it to your MALO/FFR during your interview.

If you don't get contacted by MALO/FFR for an interivew, find one and ask for an interview.

Thanks for the quick responses :)
I just completed the sports questionnaire for both USNA and USMA regarding swimming. What do the coaches do with these questionnaires? Do they send out responses back to the applicants? And how competitive is this area for the Academies regarding athletics?
Thank you!

As a nationally competator of Taekwondo in high school, my accomplishments in tournaments replaced a varsity letter. I had my coach write a letter of rec for my MOC.

Filling out the forms will get you into the recruit database. I would highly recommend that you visit the team pages on GoArmySports.com. Look at the rosters, times, etc. If you think you can compete and contribute...e-mail the respective coaches. If you already have an appointment- tell the coach that in the e-mail. You can "walk-on" and earn a spot. If you need help with what to say, PM me. Good luck...academies love scholar athletes.
