Do applicants with a Principle nom. find out sooner than others if they have been accepted or not?

I didn't find out until 1 week ago and I had a principal nomination

The definitive answer is ...maybe.

Or is it maybe not? Too many variables too invisible to candidates and interested observers to know. My understanding is that once a principal nominee is fully qualified, the BFE will not be sat on @ the Yard. Conversely expediting is a word not well known to the Navy.

Agree. You'd think they'd hear earlier but it doesn't always happen that way.

My son's timeline was definitely confusing. He received a competitive nom from our senator that he found out about in mid-December, right before his interview with our congressman. He was called by the senator's office on Dec 22 and congratulated on his appointment that he'd be receiving. A few days later he received the letter from the congressman saying that he'd received his Principal nomination and he got the appointment itself in the mail from USNA on January 4th, dated Dec 29th. I'm certain that the appointment was from the Principal/Congressman nom so am still confused as to why he was called by the senator's office. But my point was from the time he knew of the principal nom until he actually got the BFE wasn't more than a week or two, even with the holidays in there.

I think the reason I haven't ears is because I'm a second year applicant and usna told me that they don't review second year applicants until march

That's not true. I know of a second year applicant who has already received an appointment. They won't look at your packet until your first semester college/prep school grades are received by USNA. For most, that's January but could be later. If your transcript doesn't arrive until late February, then you're right, that it could be March. But that's a function of timing of the transcript not some per se USNA rule.

Oh well I'm just saying what they sent me in a letter when I started my new file last year. They specifically told me march.

They may be covering themselves b/c some may not have transcripts in until Feb and thus they may not get to review all reapplying candidates until March. As noted, I know of a reapplying candidate who has an appointment in hand -- and had it in late Feb. Given that it's now March, it's somewhat of a moot point.
