Hey guys,
I'm a Junior and have recently received my SAT scores for the first SAT test I have taken. Here they are: Math: 600, Writing/Verbal: 590. Yes, I know they are insanely low, but I have recently applied for the SS and these exceed (to a great degree) their recommended scores. I'm fine with this, but I have one question for you guys. I will be taking the SAT in the beginning of April, and, I am certain I will get a much higher score. Is April too late to take the SAT again? Is it going to be a tight fit into the timeline for applying to the USAFA? If not, what is, regarding taking the SAT test.

Thanks guys.

CAP_C/2nd,

Scores are not bad... I got into 07' USAFA SS and recieved an early appointment to USAFA recently... YES I DID ACCEPT ! (Cannot wait...)
ON SCORES CLOSE TO YOUR OWN.

My advice to you is to take the SAT EVERY CHANCE YOU CAN it cetainly will not hurt you... USAFA takes your absolute best scores.
Do not pin your future on $45 or 4 hours on a Saturday.

:D

good luck... and also it is a must to be an active athlete, a dedicated scholar, and a leader in extra-curricular activities (ie. CAP)

The USAFA looks at applicants as "whole people" even if you had 750+ on your M&V and no ECs or good grades... USAFA probably will not offer you an appointment.

Remember ~20,000 apply and only ~1200 appointments are offered.
I hope you get into SS. You are doing good by staying "on top of things."

Good luck.

and, no, April is not too late to retake. :)
Actually, you can keep taking it, and they'll take your highest in each subject area. Pretty cool.

I also took the SAT for the first time in January. My Math score was very low (570) but my Verbal was a 650. Does anyone know if I can get into SS with those scores? I will definitely take the SATs again and I have a good amount of extracurriculars with leadership. Thanks for any input.
