DODMERB psoriasis

I recently completed my physicals for ROTC. I received info today I need a remedial. I need to see a dermatologist regarding psoriasis.

Here is where it gets interesting. I have never been diagnosed with psoriasis. My mom told me I had a small case of it as a child so i stupidly wrote it down on the medical history forms. I am now worried I will be dq'ed for psoriasis.

Does anyone have information on this?
 
I got dq'd for it, tryna get a waiver for everything I got accepted to. The weird thing is, ive never had it at all. You can get dq'd for it obviously, but if I get any updates on my status ill tell you so youll get a better look at what your chances are.
 
Thanks man. Yeah I just need to go to the dermatologist as a remedial, so maybe i have nothing more than dry skin. How did you get dq'd if youve never had it, if you dont mind my asking
 
yeah, sometimes you will get the redness & itch due to dryness of the skin - i think it's quite common...

my friend in the Army got it too - and he used this doctor-recommended product to solve the skin problem... maybe you can take a look at the video at:

brwilson01 - If I haven't responded yet, I will today or tomorrow. Confirmed psoraisis, is difficult to be waivered for any Service. All three derematology consultants for their Surgeons General, recommend against those type waivers, BUT, every case reviewed for waiver, for every condition, is looked at individually. There are very few "labels" that are hard and fast no...insulin dependent diabetes is one of the very few.:thumb:
 
Thank you, Mr. Mullen. You seem to be Extremely helpful around these parts, and your personal concern seems to encourage or at least not discourage anyone who is concerned about their future in the U.S. military. :smile:

No problem man. I do have really dry skin on my elbows, so I am assuming they might have taken it for psoriasis. I just got my rebuttal sent with two strong letters, 1 with a dermatologist saying i never have had it, and another from my family doctor saying she never diagnosed it. If those two letter don't work then I am kinda stuck, but i'll let you know as things happen.
 
Those letters will be assessed, with the other information on hand for a final determination:thumb:
 
I just got back from my remedial. The doctor said that i have some mild scaling on one fourth of ONE percent of my body, that may or may not be psoriasis; a small patch on my elbow and another behind my ear. He said in his brief that it would not affect military service, butttttt he's a civvy doctor so we'll see what the peeps over at DoDMERB say.
 
don't give up. i had the same thing happen to me with a childhood alleged case of "eczema". As I never had legit eczema the remedial was easy (it also was through a civvy doctor that DoDMERB sent me to) It all worked out and I received a call from my congresswoman today saying I'm into USNA. So keep our hopes up
