Just out of curiosity, what type of boots are they issuing these days to cadets? Is there any change for 2015? Are they sticking with bellville's or bates, and if so which specific model?

Thanks

Hope it is Belleville....it is a neighboring community in Southern Illinois.....(the boot maker's name is the same as the city).

Unless they change for some reason (which they haven't since 2012 inprocessed) then the boots USAFA_Falcon_15 posted should be it.

How do those boots size up compared to a generic tennis shoe in length and width?

It really all depends...idk what you mean by generic...but if you give them something close to your tennis shoe size you will be fine. They just ask your boot size to get an idea of what they need to get in terms of sizes. I'm a 13 I believe in new balance, but then a 13.5 in my boots. You will get a chance to try them on, since you will be wearing them throughout basic and then need them to fit.

Dk are the boota good as is? Or should I invest in some inserts?

They actually break in pretty quickly, so I wouldn't really worry about inserts, unless you absolutely need them (like you wear inserts in all your shoes and can't get by without them).

I did basic without inserts with the boots the gave me and they were fine. They break in pretty quickly. By the time you really need them (in Jacks) they should be fine.

I have Belleville in AFROTC. I'm sure it's the same since things like to be kept standardized.
