I have applied for both ROTC and West Point. I am on the national waiting list for West Point but have not heard from ROTC other than "my application is complete and I will hear something by May 15th". Does anyone know if West Point and ROTC coordinate with each other so that only one will make an offer? Or is it possile to get an offer from both?

They are independent. It is possible to get an offer from both. It is also possible to get an offer from USMA but not AROTC, and it is equally possible to get an offer from AROTC but not USMA. It is also possible to get an offer from neither entity.

There are usually also ROTC offers given to some qualified, non selected applicants. Don't know how many or how they will be awarded this year, but I've been told there may be some 3 year AD offers made. You probably noted the words may and usually, so no guarantees. Make sure you are talking to the ROO at your intended ROTC school, and that you have a solid back up. The more that ROO knows you want to be in her/his Battalion, the likelier you are to be one of the first people she/he calls when they get the green light for additional offers...if that ever happens. If you really want to be an Army Officer don't give up, and be prepared to pay the price for the opportunity.

Good luck.
