I was accepted to Boys State in New Jersey and am wondering how much this helps me with getting in to West Point.

I would suggest you should probably go. I recently attended one of the Founders Day events in my area as an invited candidate and throughout the night the importance of Boys/Girls State was continuously stressed (and I do mean continuously!)
I went to Girls State myself and had an amazing time...right up there among the best weeks I can remember (although many people have also stressed the huge differences between Girls and Boys State, so take my opinion for what it's worth).

If you can, I would suggest you go!

My cadet's MALO told him that it is as valuable on your application as Eagle Scout.

My sons really enjoyed Boys' State and learned a lot about state government. They met a lot of neat kids too.

I will echo Dixieland's comments. Boys State or Girls State is not only a great experience it's a tremendous item to have on your service academy application or any college application for that matter. Congratulations!

Congrats on getting in. When you're there, try to be the one who gets selected for Boys Nation. But yeah, everything is just something else to put on your resume

I have heard Boys State is better than SLS as far as the application goes, so congrats.

My son didn't have an interest in SLS, did not even bother to apply; he knew West Point was for him and he couldn't see missing so many days of school and having to make up so much work. He is a current plebe so yes, Boys' State was very helpful, as I stated in my other post.

While its importance in admissions is something that only the admissions people really know, WP carries it on their admissions stats just like they do for varisty athletics, letter winners, etc.., IE, 25% attended Boys State (Girls State). My impression from that is that carries some weight.
