Hi - My son recently received a nomination from our Congressman for West Point. We are extremely proud but are having some problems. He had a pea allergy (yes, the vegetable) when he was an infant, which landed him in the hospital. When we did all the medical documents for Dodmerb they recently sent us a letter on January 26th, 2011 saying they needed more information and that we had 90 days to get everything in. Well, this week we checked his status on West Point and it said his file had been closed. He received an email today saying it was closed due to him not following up with Dodmerb. We have been going back and forth with his doctors, hospital, Allergist to get all the paperwork together which has been a fiasco. We even called Dodmerb with some questions and never heard from them. We felt we were able to get the documents together in time (I have three out of the four forms they need and one should be here any day), since we had 90 days from the January 26th letter. Now he has left messages with West Point and Dodmerb and is awaiting for them to respond. Does anyone know what we can do? It has been so hard getting someone to help us with this and we feel we are running out of time and he might have just lost his chance getting in. If anyone can give us ANY information - we would greatly appreciate it. ~Debra

Have you tried calling your Regional Commander?

Don't e-mail - CALL him. Call everyone you can. Tell them what is happening.

The above advise is correct. You need to talk to your Regional Commander.

Now he has left messages with West Point and Dodmerb and is awaiting for them to respond.

Who have you called and left messages with at West Point?
- If it was your Regional Commander then email him.
- If it wasn't your RC, then call him and if you can't reach him, then send him an email.

If you have not already, contact your MALO/FFR and tell them your situation. They may be able to tell you what is going on and/or make a phone call to the RC.

From the DoDMERB side - cut and paste your post into an email and send to: Larry.Mullen@dodmerb.tma.osd.mil

Thank you all for your help! Someone finally called my son back on his cell today (while he was at school) and left a message for him to email his Regional Admissions Commander. They said not to call him - he was on vacation and only would reply to emails. So we both emailed him tonight along with Dodmerb again. But depending on how he replies I will call him next week if needed.

The person we have been in contact with is hearing impared so we only communicate through emails and she works in admissions and told us on February 18th we had everything in and didn't mention anything about Dodmerb. So I believe it was just miscommunication and I am hoping once we get in touch with our Regional Commander it will be taken care of.

Sure has been a stressful procedure!

I will be sure to email Larry also! Thanks again for your replies - we really appreciate it! :thumb:

I should have mentioned that West Point is on Spring Break.

At least you are now in contact with someone and hopefully you will get some answers soon.

Good luck. :thumb:
