Is it too late?

I have submitted my information and awaiting to hear whether or not I received an appointment.

But! I am in a Senior Capstone Class where we have to design and implement a huge project, so since I'm gung ho for the military, I decided to stage a mini (4hour) boot camp at my school. I am having the Army host it alongside me (I know that goes against my favorite branch, though I felt I would get more turn out if I had them do it). It's going to be a pretty big event, I have to create liability waivers, get the military show proof of a $1million dollar insurance policy, have EMT on scene, broadcast it around school and in the community, so it's become a bit stressful.

So my question is, should I contact the Academy to see if I can still put that on my application or have them put it as a side note? Or should I call my ALO and see what he thinks? Or is it too late all around?

Definitely make some calls Monday if you don't get any good answers here.

I called my counselor week ago with a similar question I guess. I should be getting my Eagle Scout rank sometime in the next month or two, I asked if I should still send the stuff when I do. She said that it was already too late when I was calling since the board started ranking candidates for regular admissions already. I asked an ALO too, and they thought that it would probably be too late to try and make an update to your WCS, but you can still send in things for the review board to read over and consider without scoring. I'm not 100% sure on that, but it might help your questioning with the counselor.

Let us know how it goes, in case I ever get around to finishing up my own things :yllol:

It can't hurt to let them know. My DD continues to update her counselor at USAFA about recent achievements. On her application, there is a fax number for her counselor so she just faxes her the information. She has never received any acknowledgement about these faxes so who knows where this information goes, but it is worth a shot.

REPORT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO YOUR COUNSELOR AT USAFA!!

I can't YELL that loudly enough!

This year...it's CRUCIAL...as the class will be smaller...EVERYTHING counts!!

Though what happens if they have already looked at my profile, or RyWalk's profile and have ranked us. Will they go back and possibly add a few points (or however their system works)?

look; all the what'ifs don't matter. Here's the ONLY 3 POSSIBLE SCENARIOS.

1. You report it; they say, "Sorry, too late".
2. You report it; they say, "Thanks, we'll look at it". Maybe they add points, maybe not.
3. You don't report it; they don't say anything, because they don't know anything.

So..... Do I have to tell you what you should do???????

Do what Flieger said. Report it. This is so similar to people asking in the beginning of the cycle. "I have a 3.xx gpa and YYY SAT; do you think I even have a chance at the academy?"

Well; the answer to that is: "You have EXACTLY a 0% chance of getting into the academy if you DON'T APPLY. Any application is a BETTER PERCENTAGE".

Well; you have EXACTLY a 0% chance of your WCS score being increased if you DON'T INFORM THEM of any new information. Any additional information provided increases that percentage.

DS has submitted updates to his counselor by fax. The first time he did this, we called a few weeks later and she had them in his file. He never got an acknowledgment that they were received, but they obviously made it to his file! He just submitted his updated swim season accomplishments a few weeks ago. His file has been complete since November, but believe it never hurts to keep trying! Best of luck to you!

Yeah, I was going to fax an Eagle Certificate anyway. I guess I'll hurry up on that. I sent my 7th semester transcripts a couple weeks ago.

So I called in an update (received a State Scholar award) yesterday, but never heard back... Should I fax in a copy as well? Also, when faxing, do I send in a coversheet with name, SSN, phone?

Yes I always add that coversheet so they know whose file it goes to!:thumb:
