LOVE dogs!
Thanks for posting the articles :thumb:
Love that the dogs are adopted out and never euthanized.
Wish I could adopt one, but the zoo is full with 3 dogs (and 5 cats) already.

Here is one of my very favorite organizations that combines my interest in the military and dogs.
Read the story under the 'History' tab.

It's amazing how our canine friends can be of such benefit to our soldiers, whether they are working dogs or homeless Afghan dogs. :thumb::thumb:

When we used to put our MWDs on aircraft, they'd wear protective eyewear called Doggles. I always chuckled.

So true - these dogs, working or rescued, have such great value to the morale of our troops. I work for a healthcare system which has successful pet therapy programs in our hospitals and nursing home to help ease patient stress. And I believe there are programs (don't know if they are DOD) for hooking up returning wounded troops and veterans with assistive and therapy dogs.

Absolutely. That is SO evident when you read these stories from the Puppy Rescue Mission. These animals give so much joy to the soldiers - and protection too.

We have a therapy program here like that where dogs are trained to visit the hospitals and nursing homes. Good stuff.

Love this idea!
Does anyone know of a program that does this?
If so, please post the contact info or send me a PM.
I would love to get more info.

I had a chance to get in on a demo for a working dog. I put on the bite suit, and had the dog latch on. Those dogs hit with a lot of momentum at full sprint! It caught me mid-stride. A 40-50lb weight, traveling three times as fast as me, suddenly on my arm was enough to take me to the ground (rather unexpectedly!)

They are impressive animals.
