I received a conditional offer of appointment from USNA today which is contingent upon me getting a medical waiver. As soon as I get a waiver, I am guaranteed an appointment. I would assume that because we are already so close to April 15th, that the academy will only offer appointments to those candidates who they feel are highly qualified. Because I am not medically qualified at the moment, do you think my chances of getting a waiver are pretty high now that USNA has offered me the appointment? Will the Navy Medical board take my appointment offer into consideration?

You should probably check on the status of the waiver via DODMERB/Admissions. I would imagine the nature of the issue would play into the potential for waiver approval. At this stage of the process, waiting is not the most effective option.

I would think it would depend on the reason for which you need a waiver. (Please don't post that information here!). Some things are less likely to be waived than others. For example, adult asthma is very tough. Others are easier.

Having a conditional appointment can't hurt but, depending on your medical issue, it may not help. Had a candidate last year with an LOA and 2 noms but needed to "recover" after ACL surgery. He didn't recover in time so was medically rejected. Several years ago, I had a candidate who needed to "recover" from hernia surgery. He did in time and got the appointment. So depends on the issue, time, etc.
