Typically, how much homework is one assigned on a nightly basis at USNA? I'm interested in Aerospace Engineering, and was just wondering if there would be enough hours in the day to get all the work done.
Is the daily "2 hour study period" enough to get all the work done?
Thanks!

According to my Plebe...Homework=Brutal. Of course, if it were only homework that required your time, the several (more than 2) hours of study time at night might be enough. However, there are many more demands on a Mid's time. Obviously, though, many Mids do graduate with degrees in Aerospace Engineering, so it is do-able...tough, but no impossible.

This is something for you to learn. Don't back down because of homework.

Of course not. I was just thinking about sports I might try.. and my choice between lacrosse and fencing depends on "how much homework would I have this season?"
Still planning on Aero Engineering :thumb:

No. Especially as an Aero. I'm history and I'm usually doing school stuff for at least 3-4 hours a day beyond class. Don't worry. You'll figure it out, even if it's the hard way.

CandidateElias15, something you will learn to say is "remember, a half day of work in the Navy (can fill in any service) is only 12 hours long!"

USNA wouldn't offer you an appointment if they didn't think you could get it all done, as demonstrated by your achievements to date. You will be amazed at the geometric increase in your time management and prioritization skills. It's not just the homework, it's the uniform prep time, studying for plebe knowledge quizzes, stripping and waxing your deck and all the other fun and enjoyable activities (sarcasm and some truth) that go along with plebe life.

We have had plenty of aero majors in the sponsor family over the years, and just had 2 of our '14's choose aero. They picked aero because they enjoyed the briefs about it, talked to more senior mids in the major and thought about what they would like to spend time doing. Both are varsity sport folk, do other activities, and yes, they work very hard during the week and weekends to get it all done. They also find time to go see movies on the weekend, spend time on Facebook, snooze on our sofa and watch tv. You will learn by doing, and if you are already an organized and disciplined type, you will be just fine. If you are too rigid in your ways and get distressed when Plan A, B and C get derailed, you will get stressed out but learn to deal. If you are a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type, you may crash and burn a few times before you learn to get a grip.

Elias15... One of the phrases you will come to know and appreciate at NAVY is "Find a way or make one". Another term that finds frequent use is "time management". Each mid has to find his/her own way to shoehorn all the daily activities into the hours available, and there is no one size fits all answer to your question. Keep stroking and best wishes to you and your peers.
