We are having a disagreement in the houshold about the proper pronounciation of cadre. I am going with Merriam/Webster. Son has heard it differently. How is it pronounced so at least one of us can avoid sounding foolish?

Well; because we're americans, we have our own language. But as noted, it's pretty much pronounced as:

COD-DRAY.

Well, those young men and women who are reporting to C. Springs this June to start their military careers will pronounce it either "Sir" or "Ma'am", while most of their parents will pronounce it as "those jerks being mean to my kid".

Code:
"those jerks being mean to my kid".

I prefer "those jerks building my kids character"!
