Hello everyone, so I've just heard the earth-shattering news that 500 appointments were mailed out on Friday. I live in Spokane, Washington, and therefore only live 3 days away (mail travel time) from the Academy. Since I have not heard from my congresswoman, should I be expecting a dreaded TWE? Is there every an instance where people get their BFE before a congressional call?

Wow I feel like an idiot for spelling Notification wrong, sorry everyone.

Don't give up yet! There have been posts in other threads that say the candidate didn't hear from their MOC--the BFE just showed up in the mailbox. I think its totally up to the MOC if they notify or not. Maybe something good will come Monday!

otterpop, this is way way more than earth shattering. when I read that, it was nearly bowel shattering. a) where did you obtain this info, and b) good luck. im from nashville, so we about the same distance from the academy(1100ish miles). but seriously, where did you hear this?

This information may have been inadvertently released on the USAFA Admissions Facebook page. They said about 400 BFEs, and another source has 3,000+ TWE's last week (Friday).

Otterpop, we contacted our MOC's office on Monday to ask if it is the practice of this MOC to phone appointees. We were told yes. DS did not get a phone call this week, so we are fairly certain that a BFE is not on the way. However, it's not over yet! There will still be a trickle of BFE's as others decline, etc. If BFE does not arrive from this first wave, our mantra will be :" Optimistic yet Realistic". So, DS is already preparing for Plan B AND Plan C, which is to begin the process to reapply while getting ready to head off to an awsome university if BFE does not come. I think this is a very solid plan. But I AM his mom!

Having said that, your MOC may be one who does not call! Not all do, as can be verified by posts from appointees on this forum. Good luck to you, son!

I did not hear from my congressman at all just got the BFE. Some people don't get a call at all and my online status did not change for like 2 weeks after I received it. And this is only the first wave, I know cadets who have been appointed up to 2 days before BCT so patience, I know its hard but remember... No news is good news (in a way)

My MOC did not notify me. I had an LOA, but I was hoping to get a call anyways. Needless to say, never happened!

I hope you all the best of luck!

Hey thank you everyone, this is most reassuring. I got accepted into the Honors Program at Jimmer University (I mean BYU) lol. I'll contact my ALO and ask him for his opinion. Do ya'll think I should restart applying for the class of 2016? I completed my application for this year on January 7th, but I really wanna shoot for an LOA if I have to apply again. Any tips from those who recieved one?

Also, do I really have to join ROTC? I don't want to be committed to a program that is not through the AFA.

I don't know much about much, Otterpop, but if you are thinking about reapplying, you need to sign up for the SAT and ACT and retake them while you are still in high school so you can superscore once more for the 2016 app. And that, my dear, is the ONLY advice that I feel qualified to give! Oh, except to cherish the rest of your senior year and be proud of yourself!

As it has been said time and time again. "No one here can tell you to do this or that, and you will automatically achieve an appointment." THE BEST ADVICE, I've ever heard and it's what I tell kids who ask me what I did. (And folks I'm in no way bragging!) Just be the best you can possibly be, and the rest will come.

I hope you the best of luck!
