So I just got the Marine Option NROTC Scholarship to Embry Riddle and I am wandering if the scholarship covers all flight fees/training?

Hey bud same here! Marine scholarship to ERAU. As for flight training, do you mean getting a minor in flight in addition to the major you chose? I have no idea. I asked the same question the other day.

Congrats to you! My question is do they cover the expense of flight? I'm not asking about minoring in it because Aeronautical Science would be my major there.

I don't believe so. The only way I think the scholarship would cover it is if it was a minor. Even then I'm not sure.

No the NROTC scholarship does not cover flight training. The flight portion costs just under $40k over three years.

Same! ERAU, but I'm going to USNA.
And I second FloridaDad; it does not cover flight training, I called NROTC up.

Well the flight training is considered part of the major, so I would think they'd pay for that. Are you sure you asked that correctly?

I'm also waiting to hear back from USNA. And I've heard from Jacksonville University that their NROTC pays for the flight...so it must be streamlined across the board

Nrotc scholarship questions

Wow so congrats to all you who have received the nrotc marine option scholarship to erau, I'm interested in applying for next year when I'm a senior and was wondering what you guys's sat or act scores were to receive this scholarship and what extra curriculars you were involved in? Well here are my stats and I have NOT been selected for a scholarship.
31 ACT
NJROTC Commanding Officer
Student Government
NHS
Beta
Cross Country
Over 100 Community Service Hours
Coach Youth Sports
Top 10% of class 42/438
GPA 3.9X
All Honors/AP Courseload
And many others I don't have enough time to list...

How did you not get the scholarship with those stats MorganC? If you don't mind me asking, what did you score on the PFT?

Score was 230's
Can't remember the exact but its a 1st class score.
Not as high as some but still in the 1st class bracket which is what my recruiter told me I needed.

Oh well, that's life.

Dang

Yeah I agree that is odd you seem to be pretty well rounded with all your extracurriculars. And were you applying for a scholarship to embry riddle as your #1 pick?

Nope, 1st choice Texas A&M. It's out of state but NROTC was informed that I will be receiving in-state tuition there. Got my official letter today. Looks like i'll be joing as a college programmer and then trying for a 3-year scholarship.

I'll try to do a quick run down as well:

-GPA around 3.8 all four years (like 4.2 on senior semester.)
-SAT math/verbal 680/630
-Volunteer EMT (countless hours)
-United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps. (Sounds odd. similar to NJROTC and funded by Congress, but very powerful addition to application I think. I put on the application that I received honors at the trainings I did and the leadership positions I was given and how it helped me with leadership.) Didn't help me with writing :yllol:
-Varsity Ice Hockey all four years of High School
-Scored 91 on ASVAB screening test with the Marine Recruiter.
-German National Honors Society
-PFT score of 248 I believe (1st class)

I know I'm forgetting many more things but I do remember the Captain telling me that they weigh the PFT pretty heavily. ACE IT. It only helps and it helps a lot.

^ wow that's impressive as well so did you receive your scholarship? And on the pft what is considered a 1st class score like the minimum for that?

Oh yes sorry I did receive the scholarship. 1st class PFT = 225/300 minimum

I think something that helps a lot is getting all your stuff in for the early board which I did as well.

I had my application in for the early board. I honestly think my biggest problem was my recruiter. He didn't really know anything about the scholarship process, I found myself answering questions for him.
