I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet which I find odd because a lot of people have received something, whether it was a BFE or a TWE. If I don't get a direct appointment to USAFA, does anyone know/have an idea/have an inside scoop from their MOC/ALO/USAFA Counselor about when I might find out about my admission decision to the Prep School, or receiveing a Falcon scholarship?? Thanks.

USAFA Counselor told us Falcon and Prep list would not be finalized until last week in April. What that means Mail Wise Timing, I don't know. We are hopeful like you. We are out of the running for BFE, DS got the QNV letter yesterday.

We're in the same boat as you. It seems there's a few of us that still don't know anything yet. I think the kids handle it better than the adults do. We just have to wait it out.

Every parent wants their kids to have the best opportunities in life. I think we all feel the USAFA will give them the best options. No parent wants to see their kids dreams crushed.

Assuming our son gets a TWE, I'm sure he plans to re-apply for the academy next year. They say all things happen for a reason and while our son may not get to go to the academy this year, his plan B is in full swing. AFROTC scholarship is a great reward for his hard work. He will still enter the AF when he graduates and he will go on to a great career.

Just remember; the prep-school offers aren't for the "Top-X" who were not offered an appointment. If you're sitting there with a 3.9gpa, 2000SAT, 30ACT, etc... and didn't receive an appointment, it's very unlikely you're going to be offered a prep-school slot. "You're OVER-Qualified". Now; only you know your applications. If you had a fantastic GPA, great application all around, except didn't do well on the SAT/ACT, you have a good chance at the prep-school. Same in reverse. Kicked butt on the SAT/ACT and all the sports, leadership, etc... but you didn't have a great GPA. Again; without asking; most people should know if they are Prep-school material; just by looking at their own application. Best of luck to you all. mike....

What would you define having a not so great ACT? I have a 3.9 cumulative GPA and a 28 ACT...(I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet either, though my councilor implied I would get a QNV)...so I'm just wondering if Prep/Falcon will come through, it would be very nice to know ASAP, I'd like to get on with planning for next year and if I'm going to a civi college then it would be nice to start figuring some of this out soon...

wind, I think you would have to look at the individial scores rather than the sum of the parts, ie the comp ACT. DS was a falcon scholar selectee, with a 30 ACT comp, but his highest CR was 24, below what was competitive for USAFA last year.

In the same boat

DS still hasn't received anything in the mail. A call to USAFA was answered with. His record is under review.

I can answer for the Falcon Foundation--When I applied last year, I got my Foundation acceptance letter the 3rd week of April (Received a TWE first). Did not receive any information about getting accepted into this program prior to getting the letter, and the status change on the application came much later.

I spoke to my counselor at USAFA today and he said I didn't get into the academy, and I am over-qualified for the Prep school. A little disappointing but I still haven't received a TWE yet...
