Has anyone besides Early Decision applicants heard back from VMI yet?
 
DS received letter of appointment dated 1-6-11. God Bless and Good Luck.:smile:
 
I got my letter of appointment dated 13 December and I did reg decision because early is binding. Keep the faith brother
 
When you guys got your letters... around that time, did you happen to get a random email from the Post View VMI thing? I registered on their website in December, but got an email on 31 Jan saying welcome to their website. Probably nothing to be hopeful about, but thought it was weird...
 
My DS is waiting as well. He applied ED, but when we didn't hear anything after December 15, we called last month and the Admissions Office said he was listed as RD. They also said a decision had been made and we would be informed by the end of the month. Still haven't heard. DS would like to use the ROTC scholarship he was given for VMI.

I applied ED an got deferred bc of my SAT scores I took them again Jan 22 and my admissions officer said I should hear back middle of the month
 
Hello, I am new to Public Military Colleges. Do you have to get a nomination from State Government leaders to gain entrance into these colleges (like VMI)?

for the people who got accepted to VMI, did the letter of acceptance come in a big envolope or a regular letter size??

My son received his acceptance about the middle of January. It comes in a large envelope in a very nice folder. It actually looks more like a diploma or certificate that a letter of acceptance.

Same for me- looks like some type of diploma:D!
 
thanks guys, I am hoping to hear from them soon i hope i have a good chance to get in my grades arent the best they can be i have a really low GPA but i take almost all honors and an AP class and my ECA's are really good plus im an eagle scout and to top it all off my father is an alumnus. Im hopin those things get me in.
 
DS got his appointment letter today. He's been interested in VMI since his freshman year. A little birdie told me admissions are up 25% over last year! Very competitive year. I see that trend continuing!
 
CONGRATS!!! I do know its been another huge year! Has your son/daughter made a decision? - if so welcome aboard - VMI is a very special place.

Welcome aboard:smile: Our DS's will be Brother Rats this fall. Wonder if admissions are up so much if that means mostly 5 to a room?

Thanks so much! :biggrin: Well, we'll see if the matriculation numbers grow. The Class of 2014 matriculated 501!

Anyway, it's time to pull away from SAF for a few hours and celebrate. Now DS has to decide which scholarship to pick - Army or Navy. He'll probably do it this week so he can release the one he's not going to use for someone else anxiously awaiting word!

Still holding out hope for the USCGA. DS went to AIM last year. He got his TWE from USNA last week. Coast Guard Academy was a "stretch" school, but he performed well at AIM and got a good review from his cadre, so you never know. Only an appointment to USCGA will trump VMI. (I apologize for my lack of SAF etiquette. I should have combined the two posts in one reply!:redface:
