For SAT scores, collegeboard gives me the option of sending score reports to colleges online. Do I do this for USAFA? Theres a deadline to do so, so I'd like to know. Sorry if this is a silly question, I never heard a teacher, counselor, or anyone on this site talk about this before. Same question for VMI and other colleges. Can I continually send them online reports?

I think, you'll only be able to send them to three choices. Yes, you want toake your choices wisely, your first choice should be among the ones you decide to send them to. I took the act 4 times, didn't choose USAFA as my choices, and it adds up. And when I say adds up, colleges require official records from college board or ACT which gets pricey. Hope that helps!

Why didn't you send them to USAFA? And if you keep sending scores to a college (assuming they're better) do they update the scores to the higher one?

Honestly, I didn't think I had a shot at an appointment. And yes, you can update as many times as needed, and they superscore, meaning they take your best score, regardless of order. So if you score higher in math in September, but low in english. But it's opposite on the next test in october. You get septembers math, and Octobers English.

So I can't simply just put my scores in the application form later this year, right?
And I can only submit scores to "other" colleges once?

When you are signing up for the SAT test, you are given a choice on the registration form to include 4 colleges you would like to automatically receive your SAT scores at no charge to you (part of your application fee). If you plan on applying to USAFA you would definitely want to include them as one of your 4 choices since they will need them anyway. If you choose 4 other colleges, you will then have to pay the college board to have your SAT scores sent to USAFA at a different time. If you haven't already submitted your SAT registration, it only makes sense to include USAFA as one of your "free" score report schools.

One more point to your question...yes, you can continually send them your scores each time you take the test. DS took the SAT's in March, picked his 4 top choices to receive his SAT results. Just signed up for the May SAT this week and chose the same 4 schools to receive his results.

Just like you won't be able to submit your HS transcript on your own (you'll need an official one, signed, stamped, sealed etc from your HS counselor) you can't submit your own SAT/ACT scores yourself. I think the AFA has you put them in for Summer Seminar but for the actual Academy app, they need to be sent directly. Not that they don't trust applicants or anything!

Okay, and thanks so much to everyone who replied! Really helpful
