Still waiting with a principal nom

So back in February I received a principal nom form my congresswoman and I was like, "Sweet this means guaranteed admission." But now its the beginning of April and I still haven't heard anything and now I'm really starting to worry and stress out as more time goes by. Does anyone know why I haven't heard? I asked my BGO and he wasn't that helpful and my regional director hasn't e-mailed me back. Thoughts?

I have yet to get my letter in the mail as well; however, I called the academy admissions office and they redirected me to my regional director. He was able to tell me that the academy had sent its correspondance already, and that I should expect it in the mail.

Give 'em a call, see what they say :thumb:

Did you call them this morning? Did your RD say generically that USNA had sent "its correspondence already" or that they had specifically sent correspondence to you? Just checking for those still waiting. Having everyone waiting call admissions for a generic answer might be clogging up their lines :thumb:
 
Have you checked the CIS that all required documents have been received and made sure your DODMERB status is accurate? Barring any problem there, it may just be a matter of deciding where to charge you and someone else on your MOC's slate. I seem to remember that it is required that a principal nominee must be offered an appointment. Don't know if that means you have to be the one charged to that MOC. Did your MOC/staffer notify you that you were a principal nominee?

Everything is turned in and dodmerb is up to date. And my congresswoman did notify my that I am her principal nominee. I called admissions and they either said my file hasn't been reviewed yet or they just haven't made a decision; I couldn't tell because they seemed to be trying to tell me as little as possible.
 
I agree it's strange. Several ideas -- none of which may be right.

First, your MOC made an error -- told you one thing and sent something else to USNA -- unintentionally of course. You may want to confirm with USNA that THEY have you down as a principal nominee.

Second, one of your qualifications isn't done. You should know if you're medically qualified and, if you weren't told to retake your CFA, you should be physically qualified. I suppose it's possible that you weren't considered scholastically qualified for some reason.

Third, USNA is inexplicably slow.

You are correct, however, that if you are a principal nominee and are qualified, USNA must offer you an appointment. Thus, I would focus on #1 in the list above -- make sure there wasn't a misunderstanding somewhere along the line.
 
I just called admissions and they told me they do have me down as a principal nomination.
 
I am also a principal nominee (from pennsylvania, Rep Joe Sestak), I am triple Q'd but somehow USNA did not upload/update my medical status even when I had received the letter from dodmerb saying I was medicaly qualified. This prevented me from getting the actual triple qualified letter and subsequently delayed my appointment by 2 months until the medical status was resolved. Also the fact that the dodmerb site was down for a while didn't help either.

I'm not sure if this is your exact scenario as well but may be worth asking your admissions counselor.

I don't think this is the case for me because this is my second time applying and I have been medically qualified for two years. All I had to do this year was fill out a form that said I wasstill in good medical condition.

Could USNA be waiting to receive my 2nd semester midterm grades to make a decision if I'm qualified or not?

I wouldn't think so if you took the plebe courses and did well (As or Bs). Being scholastically "qualified" means that you meet the "minimal" qualifications, not that you were exceptional. Also, 2nd semester grades won't be out before April 15 -- the date by which USNA is committed to giving everyone notice.

So, honestly, not sure what's going on here.:confused: Please keep us advised.

Well I took the courses at NWP (not necessarily sure if those are what USNA sees as plebe courses) and I had straight A's. Do you know what the minimum requirements would be? I was do confident that I was scholastically qualified (I had a 3.7 GPA in high school and a math SAT of 680) but all this time going by is really freaking me out. I have no idea what would be wrong with my application that would cause me to be waiting.
 
Plebe courses: Chem (with lab), Calc, English, History. Physics (youngster course) is also good. You don't have to take all of the above but the more you take and the better you do, the better off you are. 680 Math SAT is good.
