Running for plebe summer

I know the minimum and maximum score for the prt, but how fast should I be able to run for plebe summer. Right now I can run an 8:00 mile and keep a 9 minute pace for 4-5 miles (I know this needs improvement I just would like a specific goal to work towards). My strength is upper body strength, not a fast runner but I definitely don't want to lag behind.

All the Plebes will be placed in running groups based on their running abilities. They will do this very early. Thereafter, you will run with that group.

One of my sons regretted trying so hard on the initial runs because then he got stuck with a group that ran at a pretty good pace. He had to endure that the rest of Plebe Summer.

You'll be placed in an appropriate group. The spectrum of abilities is wide - ranging from those who are cross country track stars to those who just plod along.

Are you male or female? If a female, try to improve to a 7 min mile and 8 minutes/mile over 4-5 miles. If a male, about a minute faster.

Agree on running groups but you don't want to be in one of the slowest groups if you can help it. Middle of the pack is always a good place to be -- unless you're just naturally fast.

I am female. Thanks for the advice. I do want to be more towards the middle of the pack.

7 is a good goal and you'll improve once on the Yard. My plebe was about 30 sec above that entering; never a great distance runner. Now she says she can run 6:15 - 6:30's all day long.

Are these running groups within each company or with the entire plebe class?
