TWE - QNW
I've been following this site for weeks like many other hundreds if not thousands of moms and dads across America. Before I go any further, I must say THANK YOU to all of you regulars who have contributed over the past month. I have learned so much. TWA - you are quite an inspiration to us all - thank you.
My son (I believe you refer to them as 'DS') got his TWE on April 1st, the day after we left for Spring Break in Florida. We called Mom back in Indiana who is picking up our mail for us if anything came in from the AFA. She said 'Yes' and we asked if it was a big or small envelope and she said small. We knew what that meant. I called the Admissions office to confirm it was a QNV letter. I asked about the possibility of getting a late call if someone declines an appointment and the counselor I spoke with told me the Academy isn't planning on backfilling declined appointments as a way of getting their numbers down.
Broke the news to my DS yesterday. He is very disappointed to say the least, but fortunately has a decent plan B (type 2 ROTC scholarship to Miami-OH). We had a long conversation and he's doing a lot of processing now. Today he mentioned that he thinks he'll reapply. It's hard for him to accept that he is good enough to get in but there just wasn't room. I'm thankful we have a few more days of vacation for him to process before facing family and friends back home.
We too believe that God has a plan and we're doing our best to trust Him the best we know how.
All the best to you that got a BFE - you have reason to be proud. Thank you for choosing to serve!
A pround dad from Indiana.
