How long did it take for you guys and gals to finish?

How long did it take you to finish your DoDMERB?

I first started it at the beginning of January and with the coming of March, I still haven't finished it. I'm in that remedial process and it was supposed to be completed today but for some reason the contractor for the remedial exam would not process me since they had no idea what DoDMERB, ROTC, and Concorde (contractor that overseas DoDMERB) was. They'll be calling Concorde on Monday. This was just after I took a 3 hour bus drive to there, and a 5 hour bus drive back after the visit.

The examination before that took me 3 hours to arrive to the clinic, 45 minutes of waiting for a doctor just to sign my forms, and 3 hours back.

I'm trying really hard not to think about the 8 hour trek I have to do in a few days just to get this thing moving.

I expected to finished it at the end of February AT MOST, but it seems it'll go through the month of March. The ROTC contact person wasn't joking when she said it could take a "few weeks to several months".

Another note, how the hell do you answer this question:

"Is your employer or school requesting this exam?"

When they don't understand the answer: Concorde, Army ROTC, or DoDMERB?

June of '07 until 22 Feb 08

September 07 - November 07, and that is with a DQ and then waiting for a waiver.

I started the entire process in July and I'm still going. It's been since November that I started the waiver process. Unfortunately for me, my medical evaluation did not get processed before they considered me for a waiver. So really, I would have been done a month ago. All in all, it's been 7 or 8 months...

Got all my DoDMERB info on Dec. 11 07.
Medical exam on Jan. 4 07.
Took care of my remedial stuff by 25-Feb-07 when I was deemed qualified.

Are you saying here that Concorde is contracting with providers who don't know how to bill Concorde?
That does seem odd.

I remember getting this questions with my daughter and when she said the United States Military - they seemed to get it.

The length of time from exam to qualification varies greatly. It depends on if there are any remedials or a disqualification that can be removed.

My daughter had several remedial questionairres and then a remeidal appointment and a disqualfication.
She had her exam in early October was DQ's in late Dec. Her USMA waiver came in early March but her AROTC waiver through Cadet Command came the end of April.

I can understand your frustration in having to use a provider so far away - hang in there! Hopefully, things will go your way and you will finish and be medically qualified.

My son and I found the biggest frustration was waiting for one of our doctor's offices to provide the medical reports. One doctor's office took almost three months to get the complete set of records on a remedial.

After getting a waiver, another remedial popped up--a letter is needed from the same doctor! I hope that this doesn't take as long!

I would advise anyone who is in the early stages of DODMERB/medical qualification to request medical records for any medical issues that popped up on the medical questionnaire. Then, you are armed with the records just in case you need them for remedials! DODMERB works pretty fast, considering all the people they have to clear.

Another remedial came AFTER the waiver was granted? If this can happen, when does one know when one is finished?

D had initial physical exam in August 2007 and received her AROTC waiver on Feb 20 and USNA waiver today.

Congrats on getting both waivers! Yeah!

The remedial was a surprise, especially since they had already requested and received the medical records on an injury during the summer. Fortunately, they only want a letter from the doctor, clearing it.

We are just hoping that we get more cooperation from we did the last time from the doctor's office in getting this letter. Even though my son should be doing the work, this mom may be sitting on the doctor's doorstep until we get the letter! With school activities, s doesn't have time to do that!

There are cases where an applicant is disqualified based off the physical examination where no remedials are requested. In that case, as soon as a disqualification has been added the processing by DoDMERB stops until a waiver is granted. At that point in time the review continues where it was left off, and any remedials that do not involve the disqualification are requested.

An example, an applicant is disqualified for a vision issue. DoDMERB stops the review even though they may also want the medical records for a broken bone and a repeat urinalysis. If the waiver is granted, then DoDMERB needs to clear up the outstanding issues for the broken bone and the urine.

ITN - My daughter hand-delivered a note to the doctor with the talking points of the letter because she knew more about what they were looking for than did he. He called with a question or two and voila - had the letter pretty quickly. Maybe that will help. Sounds like you are home-free, though!
