How much exposure do basics get to various weaponry during BCT, if any. Do basics who have experience with guns, i have none, have any advantage?

Basics receive training on the M-16 in BCT. Most don't have any prior experience (I certainly did not). There is no advantage to having prior weaponry knowledge or experience. MAYBE if you like having an extra ribbon for marksmanship....but it's not important.

60 rounds to sight in and qualify
There are no other qualification courses required for cadets. Other range time is optional or extracurricular. The Combat Shooting Team ran some range days through wing training this year, but I don't know all the details.

Cadets who apply for Deployed Ops in their last summer need to re-qualify on the M-16 and the 45 ACP before going overseas.

I think you mean M-9, as the M1911 was replaced quite a while ago.

(Although, I prefer a nice 1911.)

Correct Raimius. I knew it was a sidearm, I just remembered the wrong one. My apologies.

PS. 2011's class pistol is a beautiful 1911, but I'm not forking out $1500 to buy one for him.
