Does anybody know if there's any date by which you'll hear from USNA on NASS acceptances? I'd thought I was pretty competitive (2220 SAT, Eagle Scout, Wrestling), but neither I nor any of my friends at my school have heard yet. Thoughts anyone? How significant is geography here?

I have already received my acceptance letter about 2 months ago. Personally, it does seem surprising you have not received anything yet. In fact, I just received a letter today confirming that the required paperwork has been received for my NASS attendance.

Geography probably plays a role with under represented districts coming at a higher priority.

As for qualifications, you definitely seem competitive (perhaps more than me).

Mine: ACT Eng=30, Math= 35 (8/266, 3.84)
not an Eagle Scout yet (need to turn in that paperwork, finished project and everything else)
plenty of leadership from scouting
no varsity sports
minority(Asian) and from an under-represented district
also attended USNA stem last summer

If you check back through some of the past threads on NASS you will learn that there are several factors at play in the selection of participants for NASS; it is not all cut and dried personal qualifications. In fact, most BGO's will tell you that they have had highly qualified prospects passed over for NASS, then go on to get an offer of appointment.

Keep in mind also that right now the big push is on completing the Class of 2015 as early as possible and probably have several slots to fill before they will accomplish that task. I would suspect that NASS will be finalized towards the end of April.

As an alternative, I suggest you go to www.navysports.com and check out the camps listed there. It may be more of a sure thing and be particularly beneficial if you are a varsity athlete.

I was told by the Academy on Thurday April 7th that they would have all decisions made on the 8th, and all the mail would be out sometime next week...I still haven't heard back either.

Here was my qualifications:
ACT Math 29 English 30 (Only taken one time)
3 Varsity sports but only one letter
Student Government representative 2 years
A ton of community service
Academic Team 2 years

There's a whole crew of kids waiting to hear one way or another...check on the thread titled SUMMER SEMINAR and you will see the discussions.

I was told by my BGO that all acceptances and rejections will be sent out by May 1st.

Because acceptance to NASS is also rolling admissions, that means that you will find out based on how early or late you submitted your application. I submitted my application fairly early (February 6th) and I heard back two weeks ago.

This isn't always true. I submitted my application the day they opened, and I have yet to hear back.

I submitted my app the end of February and heard back the end of March...

Seems like a lot of us who applied on 1 Feb. have yet to hear back, myself included. I called admissions yesterday and the officer I spoke to told me that letters should be out by April 15th...

Yeah, it does seem that way

Is anyone else still waiting? I was told all the letters would be mailed by the beginning of last week and should have arrived by last Friday...but still no letter.

still nothing here...I hope they come soon though because I was accepted to USMA SLS and haven't responded yet, because I want to hear from NASS first.

if you haven't heard by now you probably didn't get in and you should by your airplane tickets before the ticket prices go up even more

I called today. The person I talked to said that all notifications were sent out. Unfortunately I was not selected :( Oh well, makes me want to work harder!

I feel your pain rayquad. They sent out a letter to me on the 17th telling me I didn't get in either. I thought I was very competitive. They did invite me to a candidate visit weekend at the end of the month in the same letter, so I am most definitely heading over then.

Sorry you weren't selected and you have a great attitude to work harder!--just curious for those of us still waiting if letters are, in fact, being sent out with acceptance/rejections. Did anyone receive any mail about NASS today?
