I've recieved an appointment to USNA and I want to play water polo there. If anybody has any information about the program, schedules, tryout process, etc., it would be MUCH appreciated.

Here's the USNA Water Polo Team website. During plebe summer, there are usually opportunities to try out as a walk-on for varsity sports. You can also contact coaches ahead of time. They follow all NCAA recruiting rules about contact with incoming prospects/recruits, and I'm not sure what applies in your case. Might be worth a try.

Congratulations on your appointment!

Hey! I just got my appointment as well and am definitely playing water polo next year. One of the coaches told me in September that we will be able to 'tryout' during allotted time over plebe summer. He said the first day is typically a swim set.

Hope that helps and can't wait to see you at the pool!

Varsity try-outs

Do all sports have their try-out during plebe summer, or is it dependent upon the season the sport is played?

Depnds on the sport. Many Varsity teams are very difficult, if not nearly impossible, for a walk-on to make the team. On the upside, all the Club sport teams are all walk-ons so there are a lot of opportunities to play a sport and play for Navy. Have an open mind and you can find a sport.

These guys may very well be coming from Div 1 CIF High School teams. When I looked at USNA H2O Polo results, they were losing to NCAA Non Scholarship California teams. We hope to be joining you on the pool deck in a couple years.
