DS is trying to change his school for his 4 year AROTC scholarship. We sent in his request for change, a letter from ERAU saying he was accepted and are in a holding period. I called cadet command about when he should hear if it was accepted. It seems that the people who do the school change are out today and I was told that he should hear next Tuesday. At this point she said that no one has been turned down as of yet. ( hope that is true) With the government shut down possible tonight I was told that school rotc change will be stopped because no one will be there to do it. This is very very frustrating because we need to pay the fees to both schools now! Anyone else having trouble?

We are in the same situation. ROO said we would have to wait til the last board results come out to see if any scholarships were awarded to the school DS is trying to transfer to. Makes sense that if the latest awardees will find out Tuesday, then we might find out too. May 1st is our deadline but we sure hope to find out sooner and get things going.

I am also waiting to hear. I was told that I should have heard by now though so I am getting a little nervous.

My DD requested a transfer March 31st, and received an email confirming approval of the transfer this last Tuesday, April 12th.

I do not know if it made any difference but the request was between schools that were both in the same Brigade (1st), and was to a school with tuition that was relatively the same.

Candidate Dad who did you contact about making the school change? I received an Army ROTC 4 year scholarship and am wanting to change the school but I haven't been able to find out how I go about doing that.

In our case she sent the letter to the Scholarship Program Manager of the brigade that the two schools were in. You might contact the ROTC scholarship coordinator at the school that you want to transfer to get more official instructions. I got the following from another thread that I printed out a few weeks ago.

"Before a request for a change can be considered, the scholarship winner needs to:

1. Accept the original offer. If the original offer is declined or withdrawn, the offer no longer exists.

2. State in a letter or an email which school they are requesting to transfer their offer.

3. Send a copy of the university acceptance letter. The applicant must be accepted to the university they are requesting to change their offer to.

Brigades:

1st & 2nd
Michael Sutton
michael.sutton@usacc.army.mil

3rd & 5th
Ron Jackson
Ronald.jackson@usacc.army.mil

4th, 6th, & Nurses
Larry Waller
larry.waller@usacc.army.mil

7th & 8th
Michelle Guffy
michelle.guffy@usacc.army.mil

I hope this helps! Good luck.

Does one send the copy of the acceptance letter along with the response to the original offer (the same envelope)?

Also, which would it be better to request the transfer to a school with same tuition/same brigade, or much lower tuition(in-state)/different brigade?

My DD did the following:

1. Accepted the original offer.
2. Then 3 days later, sent a letter requesting the transfer, with a copy of acceptance letter attached.

Her's (January board) was within the same brigade, and the chosen school was less that $400 more in tuition. It was approved in about two weeks. I have heard it is somewhat tougher to transfer to a different brigade, and may be a problem if the tuition is materially higher. This time it may be different but I wanted to share our experience for what it is worth.
