I've had a pet lizard for a while now, I'm wondering if it would be a bad idea to take him with me to INDOC? Or should I wait til after? I don't wanna get the DIs all over me but I wouldn't be able to get my lizard up there until Parent's Weekend. Thanks for the advice in advance.

Serious?

Part of me wonders if this is a serious question.

NO, you can not have a pet, of any kind, during indoc. In fact I do not believe you can have a pet after indoc either. You're going to be a little busy.

AND much more importantly change your forum name. DIs watch this forum and will use anything you say against you.

As a matter of general internet protocol you should never use your real name, or anything close, on a public forum.

Good luck in July!!

If you bring the lizard to indoc you likely will have to run with him/her everywhere you go. They won't give you time off to buy lizard food so your going to have to carry that with you also.

Perhaps just a photo of the lizard would be best.

to Danny Dutton's "friends" that posted on his pet lizard and anchor tattoo. You guys are awesome.

You do realize that after Danny gets his butt kicked during indoc, does a billion pushups and gains the endurance of an olympiad. He'll be strong enough to kick all of your butts.

But please don't stop. Danny would want it that way.

DANNY for 2015 class president!

Plus an excellent attention getter! Keep it up, I know others who want to stay under the radar. There are others who also seem to attract the spotlight, to them I say again, keep it up. Anyone else think the DI's for next year might be having a little fun trying to draw out some targets? Just a thought.

Save the Lizards life and don't bring him. No Pets Allowed-not even for first classmen. Perhaps you should re-read the KP website and garner a strong understanding of the school, the mission and the expectations before showing up in July!

Y'know, my main worry with bringing the lizard is that someone might find him a darn sight tastier than anything being served in Delano....:yllol:

My son and his roommate had a fish his first class year. But maybe things have changed in 6+ years.. or maybe a fish isn't considered a 'pet'??

Danny:
A couple of things I'd recommend.
1) Leave your handle the way it is, it's too funny. It almost sounds like a real name but just different enough to be really weird and funny sounding.
2) Don't, DON'T bring the lizard to KP --- EVER. Even if the rules change and you are able to. It's too dangerous for a beloved pet to be at KP. The food at Delano Hall is really bad, and after the upper class return from sea year in Asia at least a few of them will EAT just about ANYTHING. A lizard is an epicurean delight in some parts of the world and some of these upper class mids have developed "cosmopolitan" tastes during sea year. I wouldn't want anything horrible like that to happen to your little friend, especially during such an exciting/special time in both your lives.
3) Congratulations on your appointment, now you just need to master the art of laying low a little better and everything will be even better.

What kind of lizard do you have? My best friend has had a bearded dragon for about 6 years. He's an awesome little fella. Animals, in general, are just awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised. If it is, I'm sure they're getting just as much entertainment watching the parents reacting and giving advice.

Target spotted, no?

And Jasperdog, for-reals? Either you are not really buying this or you know a certain someone involved. What's your DS doing over ther summer, hmmm?

Wow, I ask if it would be a good idea to bring my pet lizard to INDOC with me and I get accused of being a Drill Instructor. Sure, I may be drawing a little attention to myself but I can't find anything on here about bringing pets. As far as the real DIs go they can kiss my behind, because there will be no candidate more motivated than Candidate Danny Dutton. So if there are any DIs watching, if you want some come get some.

Still fishy,,,,you really think there could be any chance it would be a 'good idea' to bring a pet to a Federal Service Academy? And just something about the easy use of terms such as DI and candidate seems a little familiar for someone with such a question. However Mr Dutton I sincerely wish the best for you and you may find like minded friends right here on this thread! This forum is a friendly place really but also full of characters. Some I suspect with more than one screen name. And a few trolls. Actually it is part of the fun of it all along with the best information possible. Keep asking questions whatever they may be! :thumb:

Fishing

Danny Duntan will be legendary during Indoc even if a figment of the net. El Bombero, you better be ducking and covering from incoming flak lobbed by your friend with the bearded dragon.

Just cause you take the kid out of the fraternity doesnt mean you take the fraternity out of the kid.

We all got an email on Valentines day from an O-6 who thanked us all for our friendship and asked to be his valentine. He left his office with his email up and running and his CAC card activated on his computer.
