I have started to fill out the NROTC application and I got to the NROTC Interests section where I need to list the schools and major, etc. While searching under majors, chemistry was not listed as an option. On the NROTC website Chemistry is listed as a tier 2 major and I know that Chemistry is definitely an available major offered by colleges. What should I do about this? I listed Biological sciences (tier 2) for now and the application is not submitted so there is always time to change.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Has anyone else has this problem? In addition, I heard it is possible to switch majors laterally like tier 2 to tier 2 major. So would it be possible to switch from Biological sciences to a Chemistry major since they are both tier 2?

Thanks again.

Shouldn't be a probelm long as they are both in tier 2....from my understanding.

Don't know why Chemistry wasn't listed as a major......i thought it was listed right above civil engineering.

It is listed above civil engineering on the NROTC website which is why I know it is Tier 2 and available. However, on the actual online application it is missing.

Is Chemistry a major that is offered by your first choice school? The website won't let you choose a major until you put in the school, so maybe it is school driven?

I know for a fact that my first choice has a major in chemistry. Plus, they listed a major that my first choice doesn't offer.

I'm interested in being a nurse in Army or Navy. Do you need to have a 4 year nursing degree? I wanted to major in political science or history at Drexel University. Also, how competitive are NROTC and AROTC scholarships?

I received a Tier 2 NROTC scholarship this year and I had a similar problem. My intended major was and still is Quantitative Economics however on the application itself I couldn't find it on the drop list. I just chose a different tier 2 major (I think physics) and it all worked out the same.

Your scholarship is tied to a tier, not to a major- remember that.
