Marist ROO posted a few days back that switching a ROTC scholarship from one brigade to another was more difficult than winning American Idol. So I'm wondering if there are any American Idol winners represented within this forum. If so, could you tell us what sort of schools were involved and also how long it took for you to be notified?

Yes, my son transferred AROTC scholarship from more expensive OOS private (Md 4th Brigade) to less expensive OOS public ( Pa 2nd Brigade). It was back in Jan and I think it took about 2-3 wks to post on his status page. I doubt it would have worked going the other way (from less to more expensive.)

I too switched my scholarship from one brigade to another. It was the same situation as Roway.

Dwarf Star transferred his scholarship between two brigades - from one overpriced school (to which he had not applied) to a similarly expensive one (at which he had been early decisioned). It took a little over a week, but may have been accomplished by luck or sleight of hand. The PMS told me that DS ranked fifth for the last available slot. It turned out that two of the four ahead of him opted for a service academy, one chose another school, and the fourth just vanished.

(I don't know how this counts on Marist's probability scale, since I did in fact win American idol a few years back. However, you may not have seen my virtuoso performance, since it was in a parallel universe in the downstairs shower.)

Love the sense of humor..:yllol::yllol::yllol:

Transfer between brigades appoved today - from VCU (4th Bgd) to Radford (1st Bgd). Both are in state public. Very happy it turned out not as impossible as thought to be. Award remained a 4 yr.

Congrats on the transfer. Hopefully others still waiting will get good news soon too!

Just found out today that transfer for my son was approved from instate (University of Texas) to private OOS (Notre Dame.) We sent in a request about six weeks ago to Cadet Command - didn't do much else other than call Notre Dame and tell them we had requested the transfer. We were really surprised that it all worked out.

Encouraging

WINNER! Can't get much better than that.

WOW! That is AWESOME! :thumb: So happy for you! I'm curious - was it a 4 year in-state and did it stay 4 year when it changed to out-of-state? Many have posted that their out-of-states are 3 year AD.

Great news, Crusermom! I'm guessing that you son was offered the scholarship by the January Board.

I am not sure which board it was - I think it might have been Feb - again I am not sure. We were not optimistic at that time because we had huge hurdles in the medical waiver area and were not really planning on this working out. He had been offered a 4 year in state - and today was offered the 4 year scholarship to Notre Dame. Go Irish!

NROTC

Cruz, was that a NROTC scholarship that went from in state to out of state? Thanks/
