Before I submit my nom packet, should I send my representatives a letter stating my interest in receiving a nom?

Nope. But I wouldn't send a "packet" unless you've already communicated with the MOC and know what they require. It's a little early for that.

Go on the academy website, "cut/paste" their "request for nomination" letter; change the names, etc., and then print it out, sign it, and mail it (yes, really, old-fashioned mail unless your MOC says to e-mail it) and then wait.

MOST MOC's won't do a thing with it until June/July or later...then they'll send you a package saying what they want to have you send BACK...note: you'll need all this information for ALL THREE MOC's (house and senate) and for your SA!!! So...make sure a copier is your FRIEND!

Truthfully...the first letter, requesting the nom, is EASY...

THEN the fun begins! :thumb:

You may want to check the websites for all your MOC's first and look for a section about service academies/nominations. When my son did this last year, only his Congressman wanted an actual letter stating his interest in receiving a nomination. His 2 senators had online forms to fill out requesting a nomination package--they did not want letters.
