Hello all!

I know that some items like phones, or iPods (or anything else like this) are not allowed to be used during Basic, but what happens to them when we get there? Should we just not bring them? What other items like this are not allowed?

They're auctioned off to upper classmen.

Sorry; had to go there. Just kidding. Seriously; they, along with your backback that you probably brought, and your civilian clothes, are locked up for you. You will get it all back. But sometimes something gets misplaced; so I definitely wouldn't bring anything other than possibly your cell phone. Wait until after BCT, when you know you can have them, and have your parents mail it to you.

Don't bother bringing an iPod.

Thanks for the info! I knew about the iPod (No music until after recognition, if I understand correctly), but I meant more of just things like watches, sunglasses, and all of the little 'extras'.

There are no "little extras" during BCT and they are at the discretion of your squadron after A-Day. Be advised, the little extras don't amount to much when you are a doolie.

Good luck :thumb:

There are no extras'. Anything that would give you pleasure you will not be allowed to have even a shiny gum wrapper is what I was told. LOL...

Oh, you can have a shiny gum wrapper. The only thing is, when the cadre find it, they'll think you brought food back to the dorms...which will probably earn your whole flight some extra PT time.

as Christcorp said, your bag of stuff you inprocessed with (the clothes that were on your back, sunglasses, watches, etc) are collected and put in a room that the cadre lock up. Your phones and chargers are put in ziploc bags after the battery has been detached, and the phones are put somewhere else so that you can recieve them during Doolie Day Out/In. again as mentioned, occasionally things happen and things get misplaced and lost. So bottom line, if its irreplacable or too expensive, don't bring it

At least they don't keep threatening to recycle you like they do in enlisted basic... xD In enlisted basic, sneaking food into the dorms meant that they were going to "send you two weeks back in time" =P

At the Catholic Mass at the Gateway Chapel, they threaten you by saying that if you don't sing, you get recycled :shake::shake::shake:
